Title: A quick Holland question... Post by: TheLazenby on June 06, 2007, 11:50:50 AM Does anyone know if the original German misprint of "Holland" (with We Got Love instead of Sail On Sailor) still came with the bonus EP??
Title: Re: A quick Holland question... Post by: MBE on June 06, 2007, 12:42:54 PM I'm sure it did. The album cover is on the Flames site and it's lists it.

Does the lyric sheet have the lyrics for "We Got Love", or the ones for "Sail On Sailor"? Interestingly, the first copy I bought of the album (in late '77) did not have the lyrics for either song, just a blank space. Title: Re: A quick Holland question... The lyric sheet of the German (mis)pressing has lyrics neither for "We Got Love" nor "Sail On Sailor". It is identical to the one that was included in the regular issue. Christian is correct on that, my sample doesn't have lyrics of both SOS nor WGL included. The blank space is there as well. My guess is that the WGL-lyrics were supposed to be there. Did anyone ever try out to fit in the WGL-lyrics in that blank space to see if it fits? As for US copies: I have 2 different US-pressings of Holland: both with lyric-sheet....one without the SOS lyrics....and one with the SOS lyrics. Title: Re: A quick Holland question... Post by: adamghost on June 07, 2007, 12:42:03 PM Kingsley Abbott's book -- can't remember the name right now -- had an interview with Ricky Fataar where he talked about the song. Apparently Brian did almost all the instruments, including drums, which explains the sparse rhythm pattern.

Post by: c-man on June 07, 2007, 06:05:07 PM Kingsley Abbott's book -- can't remember the name right now -- had an interview with Ricky Fataar where he talked about the song. Apparently Brian did almost all the instruments, including drums, which explains the sparse rhythm pattern. "Back To The Beach" is the book in question. Highly recommended. Kingsley also compiled "The Middle Years" (along with "The Early Years" and "The Later Years"), which is a "scrapbook" of newspaper and magazine articles. There's several articles in there on the "Holland" album, including one where Carl mentions how all the instruments on "Funky Pretty" were by Brian, Ricky, and himself. Since Brian drummed, I'm guessing Ricky did some percussion later. In the book (or possibly in the Mojo article on "Holland" from around 2002), Ricky said he had a bad cold that day and stayed away from the studio, so Brian did the drumming himself.
