Title: "Do It Again" from Live In London skips! Post by: Sheriff John Stone on May 30, 2007, 07:32:07 PM On my copy of "Do It Again" from the Concert/Live In London 2-fer, it skips right after Mike says, "It's nice to be back in Lon SKIP don again". Does anybody else's? I want to put it on my updated Greatest Hits mix CD for someone, but, being a perfectionist...

Just wondering, why are you putting this version of Do It Again on a Greatest Hits CD instead of the studio version? Title: Re: \ Post by: Dutchie on May 31, 2007, 11:13:37 AM i really love this version. It really rocks and everybody seems to have fun. Love he trumpets for taking the falsetto part

Just wondering, why are you putting this version of Do It Again on a Greatest Hits CD instead of the studio version? As a total representation of the group, I wanted to include a live cut or two. I tried to choose a song where the live version might be better than the studio version - which isn't many. "Do It Again" from Live In London is slightly faster, I like the audience clapping, the 1-2-3-4 counting, and Mike's vocal. While I also enjoy the studio version of "Do It Again" very much, there is something about Mike's lead vocal - kind of a weary, strained feel - that detracts a little bit from the song, for me anyway. Title: Re: \ Post by: c-man on May 31, 2007, 01:16:19 PM I'd pick the Live In London version of "Aren't You Glad" over the studio version any day.
MUCH livelier! Title: Re: Post by: John on May 31, 2007, 03:39:09 PM Yeah, "Aren't You Glad", and the much dreaded "Barbara-Ann".
Title: Re: \ Post by: Manchini on May 31, 2007, 04:01:02 PM Any live recording of "Darlin'" is better than the studio version...the 1980 Knebworth one always makes my playlists.
Title: Re: \ Post by: southbay on May 31, 2007, 04:22:25 PM Agree re Darlin'; also prefer the Knebworth Do It Again.
Title: Re: \ Post by: MBE on May 31, 2007, 06:32:09 PM I like the studio versions really.
Title: Re: \ Post by: SloopJohnB on May 31, 2007, 11:43:08 PM Talking about Knebworth, "Keepin' The Summer Alive" is much better than the studio version in my opinion...

Even though most of the Knebworth "Darlin'" was post-dubbed in the studio ? Reportedly Carl's vocal and guitar are the only truly 'live' parts. I mean sure it might not be perfect but I would've much preferred to hear how they actually sound Title: Re: \ Post by: Andrew G. Doe on June 01, 2007, 02:09:50 AM Well... why overdub an acceptable performance to that extent ?
Title: Re: Post by: mikeyj on June 01, 2007, 03:27:39 AM Well... why overdub an acceptable performance to that extent ? Exactly the actual performance was pretty darn good if you ask me. From memory there is some bits on the DVD that are pretty noticeable that it has been overdubbed in the studio Title: Re: \ Post by: Manchini on June 01, 2007, 11:43:35 AM Any live recording of "Darlin'" is better than the studio version...the 1980 Knebworth one always makes my playlists. No, but seriously, you ruined it for me. I'm changing my answer to the Live in London version...are we safe on that one? :wink Title: Re: \ Post by: southbay on June 01, 2007, 03:10:16 PM In all honesty, my favorite Darlin' version would come from some soundbaord bootlegs done in the mid-90's

Brian, on Live At The Roxy. One of his best vocals on the album.
Thought I'd ask the question again - does anybody's "Do It Again" from Live In London NOT SKIP at the beginning? Thought I'd ask the question again - does anybody's "Do It Again" from Live In London NOT SKIP at the beginning? Well to answer your question yes mine does NOT skip at the part your talking about. I agree about Brian on Live At The Roxy. He seems in a pretty good mood throughout the whole concert and a lot of his vocals reflect that hes having a good time. Title: Re: \ Post by: MBE on June 01, 2007, 09:25:34 PM It doesn't skip on record.
