Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: the captain on April 04, 2007, 12:47:15 PM Apart from currently unreleased material, there are no good ideas. Either rehashing the same old stuff or any attempts at new (i.e., almost certainly cheesy retro garbage) would be a terrible idea in my book.
Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: grillo on April 04, 2007, 02:53:31 PM I'm looking forward to 2065/6 and the 100th anniversary of the Best Of the Beach Boys!!!

Either rehashing the same old stuff or any attempts at new (i.e., almost certainly cheesy retro garbage) would be a terrible idea in my book. There are still plenty of good ideas: - Smile box set - Dennis Wilson solo box set and/or POB re-issue - Carl Wilson solo CD re-issues - compilations with unreleased songs - live albums with material from the 60s and/or 70s - indeed a Still Cruisin'/Summer In Paradise 2fer (yes, I'm serious) - 'Sessions' box sets of Friends, Sunflower, Today!... ... Any updates about the new Beach Boys website? Hopefully that'll take care of a thing or two on Shelter's "good ideas" list. Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: L Ransford on April 05, 2007, 01:49:39 PM Beach Boys #1's
Beach Boys - The Complete Duophonic Mixes (Box Set) Beach Boys Greatest Hits - The CBS Years Beach Boys - Spirit Of Endless Summer Sunshine - Their Greatest Songs From Your Favorite Commercials Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: punkinhead on April 05, 2007, 02:24:53 PM slightly OT, what are the #1's? in US: I get around, Help Me Rhonda, GV, and Kokomo?
I think in UK: Do it Again? Cotton Fields? not totally sure on that Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: Bill Barnyard on April 05, 2007, 03:06:55 PM GV was no.1 in the UK, as was Do It Again. Cottonfields reached no.5, Kokomo, no.25 but Wipeout (with the Fatboys) reached no.2! (ref: AGD). 8) Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: Ebb and Flow on April 05, 2007, 03:18:47 PM Today! through Wild Honey...in Duophonic. :'(
Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: Mahalo on April 05, 2007, 07:07:43 PM any of the Charles Manson stuff....especially in Duophonic :-D

Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: Rerun on April 07, 2007, 07:29:02 PM Following his resurrection of SMiLE, Brian Wilson returns with a new incomplete album in:
"Brian Wilson Presents Lifehouse" (BWPL), with bonus track *"Disney Girls (2007)"!! Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: Mahalo on April 07, 2007, 08:21:48 PM shelter, this thread is genius.
Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: bossaroo on April 07, 2007, 10:20:45 PM Quote Stars & Stripes Vol. 2 that was part of the original plan, which is why some of the best cuts were left off vol. 1... like Tammy Wynette's "In My Room" and " Sail on Sailor" by Rodney Crowell. I'd like to hear Merle Haggard or George Jones do a Beach Boys tune. Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: GoogaMooga on April 11, 2007, 07:41:31 AM Tammy Wynette's "In My Room" can be found on the tribute album "Tammy Wynette Remembered".

Though, I bet they could do a Love You boxset and throw in the piano demos and Adult Child songs... Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: grillo on April 11, 2007, 12:44:08 PM I would actually pay a crap-load for a Love You era box!!!
Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: Beach Boy on April 11, 2007, 01:43:34 PM Keepin the Summer Alive box set That would be awesome! :) Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: Magic Transistor Radio on April 18, 2007, 12:07:16 PM The backing tracks to Love You would make my day! That's the main reason I like that album. Once you get passed the cheesy lyrics, and vocals that seem a bit strained at times, the backing tracks really make this thing go!
Title: Re: Worst possible ideas for future Beach Boys releases Post by: Mahalo on April 20, 2007, 08:56:16 AM I would actually pay a crap-load for a Love You era box!!! Me Too....I'm sure the cover of the box set would be pretty cool..... ....a hip-hop version of Kokomo???
