Actually, the idea was first suggested by Jim Urie, who is the president of Universal Music Group Distribution, to give the industry a chance to highlight music that consumers have shown are among their favourite recordings over time." The Beach Boys' 'Pet Sounds' came in at number nine. Original Beach Boys Wilson and Jardine, accompanied by a backup band, performed four of their classics, including 'God Only Knows' and 'Good Vibrations'. Among the best-selling artists who didn't make the 200 were The Carpenters, ABBA, INXS and Garth Brooks, whose 'Double Live' is among the 10 top-selling albums of all time. But then perhaps we should be grateful for such small mercies. I had heard some pre-press on this but didn't hear that Al was there too. Looks like Al Jardine is now a fixture in Brian's band.
