Title: Paul McCartney phone call Post by: mikeyj on April 02, 2007, 03:23:37 AM On Wikipedia I read this. I dont always trust wikipedia, but is this true:
"Despite the "unspoken rivalry" between The Beatles and the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney were good friends during this time and remain so today. As a result of this friendship, McCartney made a guest appearance on Smiley Smile. He can be heard eating a carrot during "Vegetables." This led to an amusing story years later, as a Los Angeles radio station (Breakfast With The Beatles on 97.1 KLSX-FM) was giving away a prize to the first caller who could correctly answer the question, "What Beach Boys' song does Paul McCartney appear on?" Dozens called in with wrong answers, until finally McCartney himself (who, at the time, was in Los Angeles recording the 'Chaos and Creation in the Backyard' album) called in and won the prize." Is this true and if so has it ever surfaced, it would be very funny to hear. Title: Re: Paul McCartney phone call Post by: punkinhead on April 02, 2007, 06:38:42 AM prolly bruce, because he really didnt do anything else for the album....

Title: Re: Paul McCartney phone call Post by: mikeyj on April 02, 2007, 06:48:41 AM prolly bruce, because he really didnt do anything else for the album.... Yeah Ive always found it strange that Bruce never really seemed like he did much until 20/20. Of course even from then on he didnt really do all that much. Title: Re: Paul McCartney phone call Post by: XY on April 02, 2007, 06:56:59 AM didnt paul and brian have a session for On top of old Smokey? that was a jam session at John Phillips house. Can someone please bootleg the "Vegetables" session with Macca..? Title: Re: Paul McCartney phone call Post by: matt-zeus on April 02, 2007, 07:47:16 AM It's a pity that Brian didn't do a follow up to Vegetables in the 70s called 'Steaks' feturing himself munching on various pieces of sirloin.
Though if you were to believe the stories concerning the length of time that Brian spent wolfing down his food it would probably last about 30 seconds! Though if you were to believe the stories concerning the length of time that Brian spent wolfing down his food it would probably last about 30 seconds! That would've been an interesting concept and in the early 80s it would've been "Cheeseburgers"..."If you brought a big greasy brown bag of them home, I'd jump up and down and hope Dennis would toss me a burger."... It would have been great to buy stock in McDonalds then. Title: Re: Paul McCartney phone call Post by: MBE on April 03, 2007, 01:55:11 PM Hey those are funny lyrics Jason!!
Title: Re: Paul McCartney phone call Post by: BananaLouie on April 03, 2007, 05:43:47 PM Hey those are funny lyrics Jason!! Hmmm...The next Van Dyke Parks?...I'm sure Mike Love would grill me on the meaning of those lyrics. Title: Re: Paul McCartney phone call Post by: adamghost on April 04, 2007, 06:40:48 PM I remember when that happened...that was on Chris Carter's show, and Chris was over the moon about it. I think it was longer ago than 2004, though. I could be wrong.
