Title: From JUDY to GV . . . Post by: PongHit on February 27, 2007, 03:51:08 PM It recently dawned on me that the old tune, "Judy" -- one of the earliest B-Boys recordings -- shares some things in common, stylistically, with what was to come in the famous B-Boy cannon -- even "Good Vibrations"....
Example: 'perfume/air' in these lyrics... From "JUDY": "Judy, I smell love's perfume in the air" ...& from "Good Vibrations," many years later: "On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air" Pure coincidence? PongHit thinks not . . . Seems like, for all the dynamic changes in the music over the years, one could make a case that many of the elemental components of the BBoy music was fairly consistent, for the most part... . It was little over four years between the cuts yet they sound decades apart sonically. Judy is simple but somewhat unfairly overlooked. Brian's performance is energetid and Mike's backup is a good fit.

And in my opinion it's quite true. :) |
