Title: Carburetors, man! That's what life is all about! Post by: TheLazenby on January 27, 2007, 06:08:13 PM What would you choose as the top contender for 'worst Beach Boys parody ever'?
My vote, as evidenced by the header, is "Upholstery" from the movie Phantom Of The Paradise. Great movie, crappy song. Title: Re: Carburetors, man! That's what life is all about! Post by: BriansBack on September 16, 2015, 08:25:15 PM Ahh man, I think it's a campy pastiche of the surf style! Haha
Another number connected to a 70's midnite movie classic is "Tuff Little Surfer Boy" which feathered Little Nell from Rocky Horror. It was recorded under the name of Truth and Beauty and released on the UK RAK label. Surf meets death disc all rolled in one! Title: Re: Carburetors, man! That's what life is all about! Post by: ontor pertawst on September 16, 2015, 09:23:29 PM That song completely cracks me up! I saw one of those Tim and Eric guys sing it a few years ago a few feet from a highly bemused Paul Williams, but I think Mike Love should consider giving it a whirl! Foskett can really nail the falsetto if he keeps his ascot on tight.

I don't know about the "worst" BB parody ever, but I know about the best : Skeet Surfin' from the movie "Top Secret!"... It's almost better than any BB song. Almost. Title: Re: Carburetors, man! "Trigger Happy" by "Weird Al" Yankovic is another great BB style parody about guns! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82FHd4jTqzg Title: Re: Carburetors, man! That's what life is all about! An Evening with Paul Williams at Cinefamily, with a great band and a bunch of guest vocalists doing Phantom tunes. Title: Re: Carburetors, man! That's what life is all about! Oh, need to practice restraint...need to practice restraint...need to practice restraint...need to not say the parody group that contains Mike Love, Bruce Jonnston, John Cowsill, Foskett, etc....need to not say that... Honestly, I'm still a little torn about the name of the group, but I've also seen The Yardbirds with just Dreja and McCarty. But, I can say that when I saw M&B (with David Marks) last month, they put on a great show. |
