Title: Bolan and Bruce Johnston Post by: Bill Barnyard on January 26, 2007, 03:52:13 PM Friday's issue of the (London) Times has an interview with producer Tony Visconti.
He mentions a meeting between Marc Bolan and Bruce Johnston after a T-Rex gig at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in LA, early 70's. Bruce was in the audience and after the show (which according to Visconti was poor) dropped into the dressing room afterwards to meet Bolan. (Bruce): "Hey man, you're really groovy and I enjoyed it, but I think you should keep the set shorter and drop some of the extended solos." (Bolan): "F*** off, get out of my dressing room, you're not even a real Beach Boy." Ouch! Does anyone know more about this story? ??? Title: Re: Bolan and Bruce Johnston Post by: Jason Penick on January 27, 2007, 11:59:34 AM I see Visconti left out the part where Bruce ripped Bolan out of his chair, threw him to the ground and kicked him 7 times in the rib cage while screaming "who's a real Beach Boy now, bitch?!!"
Title: Re: Bolan and Bruce Johnston Post by: endofposts on January 27, 2007, 01:54:04 PM Marc was a man of extremes. He dropped by a Rolling Stones session once, grabbed Mick Jagger, and planted a a big, sloppy kiss on Mick's lips, saying he always wanted to do that. Mick was not amused (and he swings both ways, so you know it must have been bad). Maybe Bruce should be grateful Marc didn't like him.
