Title: in praise of Larry Knechtel Post by: halblaineisgood on December 19, 2006, 11:07:07 AM I think this guy should be in the rock hall of fame, if only just for his Bass playing on Mrs. Robinson (listen to the left channel, its amazing....it's melodic as hell), and his piano on creeque Alley(you can hear it alot better on the original mono single mix).....anybody have any other favorite parts played by knechtel?

That's the only Doors album I can listen all they way through though. Well, La Woman is pretty good too. But everything in between seems to be two good singles and then 10 tracks of outdated psychedelia...

Is there even any bass guitar on the album? I know the Doors used session bass players on other albums, but I thought on the first album it was all keyboard bass, which Mr. Manzarek was playing. ???
