Title: Brian on Still Cruisin' album
Post by: Aegir on October 23, 2006, 12:26:24 AM
I remember reading somewhere that his only contribution besides the old songs was singing/writing In My Car, but I'm almost certain I can hear him in the acapella intro in Island Girl. Or maybe that was just Al? Someone help me out.

Yeah he was on that one. Also, although these don't count, he was all over Wipeout and makes a cameo at the end of Make it Big.

He isn't on the title track, Kokomo, or Japan, but he is on everything else.

I don't really care. 'BW solo' is a whole lot better in my opinion. Mainly because they couldn't make a full album of new stuff, for whatever reason.  'Kokamo' is pretty good, 'Make it Good' is solid. 'Japan' is ok. I can't stand 'Still Cruisin' and 'Island Girl'.

I really like the whole album... "Japan" has become one of my favorite BB songs ever, and even "Wipeout" is fun to listen to. If only they had put "Rock N Roll to the Rescue" and "California Dreamin" instead of the old hits...  :(

Edit: oh, and don't forget this is the last BB album on which Brian is involved... (before you ask, Stars and Stripes doesn't count)

In my opinion, Keepin the Summer Alive was the last solid BBs album. The last good one was Love You. Not that their 85 album, Still Cruisin or Summer in Paradise don't have anything good on them, they do. Maybe one or two songs.

Granted, I am thinking in terms of artistic beauty more then catchy Beach Boys.

Keepin' The Summer Alive?  Solid?  Artistic Beauty?  Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I take that back, I meant the LA Light Album.
