Title: Brian meets Elvis Post by: runalot on September 18, 2006, 11:15:30 PM Read bits of Jerry Schilling's book...
Seems like a cool guy. I was expecting a horror story, but he had lots of positive things to say about the BB's (noting only the obvious negatives). Especially Carl. According to Jerry (mid-70's), Elvis was in a recording studio doing his thing. Then, out of nowhere a big bellied bearded-man slams the door open and introduces himself. I guess the bodygards (T.C.B., baby!) try and keep him away, but Elvis, being the curious King, tells the bodyguards to back off and let the stranger in... Brian introduces himself and tells them he's Brian Wilson. None of them know the name. Brian then tells Elvis to follow him in the next studio. Elvis takes the order for his own amusement.... blah blah Brian plays a new tune to elvis and his crew... when he asks Elvis if he approves of it (or something like that), Elvis says "NO" Then him and his crew leaves.... lol Man, how many times did these two guys run into each other?? Brian must have been rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeaaaaaallllllll f'in high on drugs. As far as Jerry, yeah, he didn't seem they were a big problem to handle when he was managing. BUT THEN AGAIN, looks like he's kinda stressin in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCe-K6NiTm8 Title: Re: Brian meets Elvis Post by: Rocker on September 19, 2006, 03:40:29 AM Well, it is siad that Brian and Elvis met twice, but other sides are saying that it, in fact, was just this one meeting. The Beach Boys, though, were invited to one of Elvis' great '69 Las Vegas-shows and met him backstage. Bruce already met him while Brian was doing "Pet Sounds".

Oh, I think it did happen. Brian's "bio" places the encounter in 1969 but I think that is wrong. I think that the account is actually the 1975 session and that Todd Gold was fooled by the LA location, thinking Elvis must have been working on a movie soundtrack. The 1975 sessions were the only time Elvis was in LA studios after 1969 to record that I can remember (wait, was 1972 LA as well?), and it would be easy for a writer not acquainted to overlook. If you put the two accounts together, you probably can harmonize them somewhat to be the same meeting. Title: Re: Brian meets Elvis Post by: No. Fourteen on September 19, 2006, 08:08:22 AM Thank goodness. It'd be disappointing to have that story in doubt! I wonder what song Brian tried out for the him...
Title: Re: Brian meets Elvis Post by: matt-zeus on September 19, 2006, 08:20:12 AM Maybe 'H.E.L.P...' :-D
Elvis wouldn't have agreed with that one! Title: Re: Brian meets Elvis Post by: Rocker on September 19, 2006, 10:26:32 AM Well, I don't know what Brian played on piano but he certainly played Elvis the new version of "Why do fools fall in love", because that's what Brian was working on at that time. There was no solo-project he did.
