Title: Production Video: "What if Billie Eilish's BAD GUY was by THE BEACH BOYS?"
Post by: guitarfool2002 on March 04, 2022, 10:26:33 AM
This is a really cool (IMO) video by a musician named Ali Spagnola, from her YouTube channel, showing exactly what the title describes. She re-imagines Billie's hit "Bad Guy" as a classic Beach Boys style surf track, complete with all the signature sounds and production elements. Her channel has a lot of similar "What If?" music videos and production breakdowns showing mash-ups of various songs, genres, and artists. Musicians have been doing this forever, but with YouTube it's become sort of a sub-genre and with Ali's videos she often shows how she produced and recorded the songs and how everything went together, which is always fascinating to watch. And for anyone not as into the recording/production aspects of the music, a video like this is a great demonstration of how these signature sounds can be replicated and created on not much more than a laptop and a recording interface, and it also shows what goes into making a multitrack recording and a final mix in this realm.

Ali does a great job here, it's worth checking out and hitting the like/subscribe button!

Now that’s a way better use of I Get Around than the elongated Applebees commercial jingle!

Thanks, GF--that was fun. Not quite fun, fun, fun, of course--but fun. It would be more so if Billie Eilish herself would break away to a better life, and leave behind all those shackles and that apparent burning desire to have a man-boy give her a carload of rough sex, but--as Keith and Mick told Brian..."my obsessions are your possessions" and maybe Billie will tie it all up for us (!) by doing a cover of Brian's favorite Stones song...  :smokin

Billie Eilish's second LP open with Getting Older, a song I put into a playlist alongside Smiley Smile's Vegetables, because of the sttacato bass (synths in her case). Try listening one after another.
