I asked the same on 2 other boards but got no reply/comment at all.
I was beginning to think I was the only one who had read the press releases about him being commissioned :brow

He asked to be paid a reasonable sum of money for his efforts?

Maybe he even wanted his name to appear in the credits....

Tbh, I didn't catch this info before - wow. I like the album cover, it's very cute but imagine what it would be with Peter Blake's ideas. I suspect he was creative & would not repeat the Sgt. Pepper multi-face, it would be different & extraordinary.

For those interested, check this blog which too bad isn't updated: http://uncanny1.blogspot.ru/2006/02/peter-blake-to-illustrate-ltd-edition.html

I suspect it never came to fruition.  Didn't Peter Blake do a limited edition book of illustrations for That Lucky Old Sun that was a commercial and critical flop?

Not sure he could've repeated the Sgt. Pepper multiface, as it hadn't been released yet.

The multifaces were so sparse on the GIOMH cover, it was like a 70th-anniversary parade of WWII vets.

It's good catch. To rephrase, it would be cool if Peter Blake was 1st to create sth. to the BBs album but it would be different idea, not multiface (iir, Paul came up with that idea of celebrities. or was it John with the list of celebs? Every Beatle?).
