I'm hoping to generate discussion about all the great studio cats of the past.  I'm really devoted to getting to know them as people, as well as musicians.  Please join me.

Sounds like a beautiful idea, JH. It would be a such a shame if the stories these musicians have to tell were to sink from view. To say nothing of the photos -- it would be wonderful to have them all in one place, before memories become fainter and their identities are lost from view as well. Let's hope others help you find the missing pictures of these great musicians in the studio in the mid '60s.

I know you regard them as your friends across time. I'm sure they would regard you as their friend in return!

This is probably as good a place to post this as any. The Musicians Hall Of Fame has a lot of interesting interviews with session musicians but also singers and producers.

I shall bump this from time to time. There's already plenty to enjoy there.

It's developing well but could do with more input from others -- hence this bump. ;)

From the reddit in question:

"My aim in creating this sub is to keep alive the memories of the great session players from the great recordings in history. So many of them have passed away now, and their stories are fading. There are the more famous players, like Hal Blaine, James Jamerson, and Jeff Porcaro -- and we will remember them. But it's also high on my agenda to remember people like Richie Frost, Lewie Steinberg, and Pig Robbins too. So if you have a story about anyone, a remembrance, an anecdote, a question, or especially a photo, please share it here."

Everyone pipes up whenever Joshilyn addresses studio musicians and their instruments over here but doesn't seem interested in joining a reddit sub devoted to the subject. Their loss, I'd say.

I do like your avatar, JH. And the change of handle is a very wise move!

I thought this may be of interest:

Chuck Britz Interview - Brian Wilson & The Beach Boys - 3 of 4

Check out youtube for the other parts (I posted part one in the media section the other day). It's a very interesting interview. Obviously a lot of Beach Boys stuff, but you get an idea of the work done in the studio.

This was just uploaded recently and I only saw it now:

This clip is one of the earliest interviews I did.  I went to session musician and original A-Team drummer, Buddy Harman's house.

Buddy talks about how the original A-Team got started plus Owen Bradley and Chet Atkins and playing with Roy Orbison and even Elvis Presley.
