Crazy story. Back in the 1970s as a student I was able to take out a subscription to our symphony 's concerts. Got a great seat for next to nothing, the row in back of the box seats. One of the concerts I went to had this piece as the last on the program. Immediately in front of me , in box seats, was a candidate for Mayor in our city, and his wife . Towards the end of this piece, exciting music being played, he got up, said "this is boring" and they left. I thought do I want someone like that for Mayor ? (Yes I guess that was a bit snobbish lol) So for this reason (and yes, others), I voted for the other guy, who ended up winning the race.
