Sorry, if this have been discussed a few times before - I need to know: since Elton released a full live-cd from this great event in 1975, isn't it most likely that a tape of that same quality exists of The Beach Boys part of show, somewhere in the vaults - anyone knows? Thx!

That's one hell of a set for 1975.

I wonder if they taped the show? And if it's been booted, or if BB Inc. is considering putting that sort of stuff out, either on CD or as downloads on the official BB site?

I feel like I heard/read somewhere that they were in fact considering that sort of thing. But maybe I dreamed it.

There's an audience recording...pretty lo-fi.  A better one from that era (quality-wise) is MSG.
Wembley's setilist was better, though.

This might sound crazy, but I don't believe I've ever seen a picture of James William Guercio.  I was thinking about that the other day while I was reading "Catch A Wave"...I knew that he was part of the touring band around this time, but I just had never seen a picture of him!

I think I first saw him in the John Milward book

Regarding Guercio...I first saw his pic, in fact a pic from the Wembley concet no less, in the 1976 edition of  "Rock Encyclopedia".  He had his own entry.  Also, if you've ever seen the video of Chicago and the Beach Boys doing "Wishing You Were Here" from the Dick Clark New Years Eve special, Jimmy is playing acoustic guitar alongside Peter Cetera.  More recently, there's interview footage with him in the VH1 "Behind The Music" on Chicago.  The footage is recent. 

Regarding Al's sunburst Les Paul...isn't he playing it in the stills from the '73 "In Concert" album?

  I think that's a Les Paul Junior or a Special inside the "In Concert 73" album.

You are right. I think he said the Surfin USA LP kicks so hard because of that guitar.

Getting back to the Les Paul Al is pictured with above...I think he's holding the same Les Paul on the back of the booklet in the new Hallmark CD "Songs From Here And Back".  That shot is from '74, I believe.

It looks like it is the same guitar, that is a great picture of them, although Mike Love looks very angry with the other 3 in that picture. I wonder why

Also, on page 354 of the Badman book, there's a great shot of Al with what appears to be the same guitar.  The caption says it is New Haven, August 25th, 1975.

I think Al is also playing that Les Paul at the Seattle concert from December '75 that's made the rounds on video for awhile now.  I remember him playing a Les Paul for much of that.  Come to think of it, he's also playing that guitar on the New Years Eve '74 Dick Clark special.
