Title: Dennis singing "Dream On" by Aerosmith ...
Post by: SMiLE-addict on October 10, 2018, 06:29:12 PM
Would he sound any good doing it? Could he put the right 'omph' into it?

Sometimes I wonder which of the BB's might sound best doing certain other people's songs. Aside, of course, from the ones they already covered.

Yes! Listen to songs like Slip On Through and California Slide when he still had his original voice.

Yeah those two are kinda sorta close. Hadn't heard California Slide before.

OK, but could he do the really high screams that start around 3:30. Without sounding awful, of course.

I think "Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live Again" probably has the highest, strongest notes of his original voice. Sure, there's the high "side" on "Slip On Through", but I believe that song was sped up a bit for release. The powerful "whoever said" parts in "WIBNTLA", though, are pretty impressive. Not sure if they quite reach "Dream On" territory, though!  :)

Those parts in WIBNTLA are great, but they're not all that high and don't require his falsetto. The high notes in Slip On Through are much higher, and they were only sped up a half tone.

I saw the title of this thread and thought there was a long lost recording of him singing it  :lol

Yeah...I saw it and thought maybe someone "faked" a performance of "him" singing it. Glad to see I was wrong!  :)

Nope.  Next question.

I always thought Dennis would have done a good cover of "Sweet Emotion" - pre raspy voice
