Title: The "Fab 4"
Post by: NOLA BB Fan on June 02, 2017, 06:23:53 PM
On the Sirius/XM Beatles channel, fans are invited to submit their Fab 4 choices - their 4 favorite Beatles songs. Some fans are picked to present their picks on air. I listened to several today. "Rain" seemed to be a popular choice,

If by some slim chance I could present 4 of my very favorites, they would be:

There's a Place
Yes it Is
Martha My Dear
Old Brown Shoe

What would you all pick?

Good call, E. Four is a nice compact number, particularly if you're not the world's biggest Beatles fan.

I had a think about this while walking the dog. The first two came to mind immediately. If I had to choose just one, it would be "The Word". "There's A Place" is one of the most perfect songs ever committed to wax. Believe it or not, I remember hearing "Yes It Is" for the first time a few years ago after being sent a stunning live version by Don Henley. And "Savoy Truffle" is a great lesser-known George gem, with some fantastic massed sax lines.

The Word
There's A Place
Yes It Is
Savoy Truffle

This is basically impossible, but here goes:

Girl
In My Life
Nowhere Man
Norwegian Wood

Might as well stick to the same album for all 4. :)

I agree, this is impossible!

Lady Madonna
Hey Jude
Day Tripper
Penny Lane

Those songs come to mind, I think they would work well together in any order.

I usually say Paul & John - equally talented songwriters. Despite being mainly Paul fan, John's written good songs which I like equally with Paul's.
