Title: Beach Boys collectables - how fussy are you?
Post by: GoogaMooga on March 30, 2017, 03:40:52 PM
Right, I made a general heading, but specifically, I've got a problem. Like many of you, I also collect BB books. Mostly hardcover, of course, and I like all those books to be in fine or better condition. Held out on buying The Lost Beach Boy for too long, and was dismayed to see it fetching £50 recently, on amazon.co.uk in like new condition. So I was really happy when I won an auction of it on ebay, and only had to pay £5, plus £10 postage. But when I received it, I discovered two tears in the DJ and a little chunk missing. Man, was I pissed off! Now, I don't know whether just to eat those flaws and live with the book as it is, or lose money and try to upgrade. Book exchanges won't pay much for it, and I consider that money lost. On the other hand, I baulk at paying £50, though I am sure I can find it cheaper, with a little perseverance.

What would you do? What DO you do, when you have got lower grade BB books? Can you live with them, or do they bug you? Sorry if this topic is a little trivial, but the book is bothering me as it is now.

There's a revised version of that book in the works, I am told.
