The Zappa-esque yeahs in "It's O.K.".

Oh, and "Find a ride" (whatever that's supposed to mean)...

Not sure if it is the same, but I grew up about 30 miles from the Atlantic ocean. In my teen years, nearly everyone wanted to go to the beach, but not everybody had a car yet so we would hook up with a friend (or friend of a friend) who would take us to the beach for the day for a few dollars (for gas). Seeing films of the surfers piling out of woodies and running into the water makes me feel that it is similar elsewhere.

Two things. First, I never realized how good this song was until I bought the vinyl years after owning the twofer (always skipped this song because it sounded cheesy). Aside from moving the needle there isn't a skip button on the record player so it forced me to listen to the whole thing. That outro is one of the best things they did after their heyday.

Secondly I always heard Dennis sing "fun to run" for some reason. "Find a ride" makes infinitely far more sense.

A hilarious Dennis moment: "Come on, come on and do the chicken!" He seems to think so too.

That's Denny? I always thought it was Mike.

From SOT Kiss Me Baby vocal session takes ending --
"Please let's go home" ad lib  ...
I just love that melody and delivery, should have made the cut.

Even funnier if you don't know the "chicken" is a dance...

Side note: is Denny's chuckle in this song the last instance of laughing in a BB track? The others I can think of are Punchline and the Smiley Smile version of Wonderful...

And perhaps a double entendre... isn't "chicken" also a "petting " game the kids used to play back in the day?

As for fun Denny moments, I've always asumed that's him going "Do it!" At the beginning of Little Pad, anyone know for sure? Makes me smile every time :)

To below posts - do you double over laughing if you hear Dennis sing chicken line? Wouldn't say it's funny/ hilarious.

- "girls will all hula" in "Luau"
-  the bridge in otherwise boring "Girls on the Beach"

One of my favorites is the bass vocal in "Shortnin' Bread". You can almost "hear" the smile on his face.  ;D

I've been told, somewhere on this board, that the "yeahs" in It's OK, which I had always assumed were done by Mike, are actually Brian.

...... Secondly I always heard Dennis sing "fun to run" for some reason. ...

Yeah, I thought that for many years.

Arti Geller ?

Arnie Geller. I think Geller's voice is too deep (that's him intoning "Good!" on "With Me Tonight").

So it might be Dennis...

Those octave leaps into the stratosphere in "Slip On Through", particularly the last one.

Yeah, Dennis had a fairly high register that he didn't use that often. Well, before he damaged his voice.

Dennis was often very effective at adding his own backing harmonies to his own lead vocals. I think this started with Be With Me, where his lead is also double tracked (flanged); the echo on the fade is also amazing on that track.

Is it Dennis doing the bass vocal in "Steamboat"?

I never listened to that consciously as Dennis. Thanks for pointing that out!

Is it Dennis doing the bass vocal in "Steamboat"?

It is, according to "John":

Can someone enlighten me as to who this "John" is? What an amazing piece of work!

Boring? I see the bridge as a brief moment of respite before Brian takes the already intricate vocal harmonies a step further.

But I agree, it's a classic bridge. :=)

I rather think it is. Although there may possibly be a chuckle hidden in the mix of the rowdy introduction to "TM Song"...

Also, according to Brad Elliott in his seminal early '80s book "Surf's Up: The Beach Boys On Record". Plus, it totally sounds like Dennis.
