Here is a promo of Live At The Roxy done for Capitol Records (has the same tracklisting as the Brian & Melinda self released version).

This appears fishy, to say the least.  Even if in 2001 Capitol was going to distribute Roxy, why burn 5 CDRs?  Sounds like a hoax.

yes it is a hoax, it was never offered to capitol records as Mark Linnet once recalled when this was on an other board i believe. Dont buy it.

Nobody 'presses' 5 CDs... If you need 5 CDs, you'll burn them. So basically it seems like they're offering a CD-recordable with a xeroxed cover for 65 pounds... Sounds like a huge rip off.

I love how the seller refers to these as rare "CD-R acetates"! Then he notes how they were "rumored" to exist (never heard any of those rumors, like anyone would care). Finally, the use of "@" in the printed title instead of "at" is the final insult to a buyer's intelligence. One could almost understand passing this thing off if the Roxy set had not been officially released; as it was, this phony collector's item is shameful.

Are you saying that someone would try to pass off fakes as the real deal? I am shocked, shocked that there is gambling going on here (Casablanca)!!!

I thought as much when I posted it. I wanted to see what everyone else thought. I have seen Capitol CD-R acetates (guess they call them that out of habit). They don't look anything like the ones posted on eil.

However, I did pick one item up which eil sells (wanting way to much, though so I got it somewhere else). It's pretty sweet. CHeck it out.
