Title: Just a funny idea on Mike's royalty lawsuits Post by: leetwall97 on October 30, 2016, 11:39:08 AM We all know how Mike often requests a writing credit for (what may seem to us) as a real minuscule contribution to a song. I was reading his book and during the trial against Brian in the 90s, Al got on the stand and Mike's lawyer pointed out to the court how Al suggested to Brian that he should arrange a version of the Wreckage of the Sloop John. The lawyer asked Al if he had ever seen a rewarded for the contribution in any way, and Al was surprised for a moment and said "No, I haven't". I just find some aspects of this quite silly. Mike points out earlier in the book how proud he is that he suggested to Paul in India to sing about European girls in the Back In the USSR bridges. The Beatles never credited Mike for that contribution. Why doesn't he sue them? It just seems hypocritical. Mike DID deserve the writing credits, but some of the "contributions" are a little silly.

Wow, the list in this thread is quickly at least up to 3 songs that have Brian melodies which Mike lifted, yet apparently saw fit to lift without crediting Brian. Not a backhanded endorsement of how Mike was treated years ago, just pointing out the rather shocking hypocrisy, because I don't know how those parts lifted are any less important than "good night, baby" in WIBN. I really don't get how that logic works.
