We're still allowed to be sad, though.

I'm sure his family isn't exactly throwing a party. Insensitive much? I mean, sh*t, my aunt Annie passed  last month but she was 88...rather than grieving, should I be doing jumping jacks and singing Monkees songs?!

Plus for many of us, it's a reminder of how we're getting up there as well and is a reminder as well of our own mortality.

Is Chess legendary akin to Tower?

Family is different. Of course it's allowed to be sad, didn't say otherwise but it's pet peeve of mine when the singer/ musician or some other celebrity, actress/actor dies at senior 80-90-100 age, people immediately get sad. Even if it's smb. they're not big fans of. Should we not celebrate the long life they lived? That's my point. Besides, not being sad doesn't mean being cheery, do the cartwheels etc.

Well, again, for some of us it's a reminder of our own mortality. For me, well, I remember reading about Chess Records as a teenager, when  I was first getting into the history of rock and roll, when there was so much I didn't know. Since then, I've buried both parents, two babies, gone on  briefly and then off (for good) hard drugs,  had a stroke, a lot of junk in my life in general...what I wouldn't give to be 14 again sometimes!  I'm 38 now, and not a young 38. I'm reminded of that again today. One day it will be me, or my wife, or someone else close to me.

I don't think much about mortality.

I envy you for that...100% serious too. Lost too many people over the past few years and had too many close calls of my own.

Polish. Chess brothers featured in "Cadillac Records". Some Smiley residents said it's good.

I remember seeing him in a PBS documentary, 1995. He was quiet; a younger guy - his son? = did most of the talking. We owe these guys a lot.
