Title: She's Goin' Bald / Little Egypt (The Coasters) Post by: James Hughes-Clarke on July 23, 2016, 11:39:51 AM Stop me if this has been noticed before, but I just heard a song called Little Egypt by The Coasters, and there's a bit in the middle that is strongly reminiscent of She's Goin Bald. I'm thinking of "She drew a comb across her scalp, and brushed what she had left..." where the chords go up in steps. We know Brian (and Mike) were big Coasters fans; I wonder if they were doing a little cheeky homage?

"Little egypt" is a classic. Love that song. Elvis also cut it for his '64 movie "Roustabout": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u65wEvTnSU Funny that you mention this because I had the same thought about "She's goin' bald" although with a different Leiber&Stoller song by The Coasters, "Along came Jones" (listen for the "and then, and then, and then"'s): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H67VNQ2_xfk |
