Post by: The Real Barnyard on July 18, 2016, 11:19:11 AM
We just launched our new website: http://beachboyslegacy.com/
A new way of exploring The Beach Boys discography.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed working on it.

Great site! Congrats and thanks for your work and for linking it here.
I'd have just one suggestion: imo "Pacific Ocean Blue & Bambu - 2 CD Deluxe Legacy Edition" is so important a release that it should have its own independent place. By the way, "Bambu" could have its gems highlighted too.
Speaking of gems, I agree with almost all of them. :)

Good job! This will certainly be useful to many of us. Keep up the good work!

We will consider your suggestion about POB.

Much of David Marks work is missing. Like POB/Bambu, oddly missing many albums.

Great looking though, very well designed and fast. Great job.

POB/Bambu is under the Pacific Ocean Blue item. We will consider changing that.

More items and updates will be added soon (Mike Love, David Marks and Bruce Johnston albums) but we thought that we had enough material to launch the website.

Stay tuned. Videos, Books, Singles and more will follow!!

This is great. It looks good and is really easy to browse. it would be nice if there was a written review of each album or some sort of historical context but I appreciate that's a lot of work.

Yes, some new sites contain little information, not many links & subpages. Then the updates are done etc. Anyway, good start. :3d

You know what I'd really like to see on a beach boys website? A track by track, in depth discussion on the difference(s) between the released Bambu, and the various outtakes and rough mixes that were traded and bootlegged as "Bamboo".

I don't see the point in starting a '"rateyourmusic.com" for Beach Boys fans. I'd prefer a site on par with www.chalkhills.org. Chords, tablature, interviews, quotes, and other details regarding every recording made by the band.

There are threads in this forum that are 100 pages long but contain invaluable gems, like the magazine thread (http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,10376.0.html), which contains a wealth of vintage articles. How about some mirrors of these scans with decent organization, or even transcribed text? A section for adapted liner notes? Links to vintage news articles, like older Beach Boys sites used to have? Collaboration with Craig Slowinski for personnel lists and recording date information?

Yeah I know, it will never happen. People on here would rather fantasize how life would be different if the Beach Boys were born female than contribute to such an easy project...

Our website keeps growing. We recently published a 'Various Artists' album category. And we just added social ratings to all the albums and books, as many of you have requested. We would like to have as many Beach Boys fans as possible to rate the albums they've listened to and the books they've read.

Enjoy!

beachboyslegacy.com/

Videos will follow soon  :)

We just launched a Bootleg section on beachboyslegacy.com. We've tried to build the most complete list of Beach Boys and solo Bootlegs to date.
Factory pressed CDs and vinyls only. No fan mixes, mp3 collections, etc.
Let us know what you think. If you want to contribute with ideas, corrections or better cover scans, please get in touch. This was months of work and it is not finished yet because we are trying to include filters to make the discoverability easier.
Obviously, the list is for reference only.

Check the Bootlegs category and enjoy!!
