I'm not a big hip hop fan, but these are the albums that I really enjoy:

The first 2 are German hip uop albums. Fischmob are so good it's crazy

Fischmob - Männer können seine Gefühle nicht zeigen
Die Fantastischen Vier - 4 gewinnt
Cypress Hill - III Temple of doom
Funkdoobiest - Brothas doobie
Beastie Boys - Ill communication

I'm not a major rap fan either, although Ovi has done his level best to win me over.

As for albums, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's The Heist is still my favourite (as the howls of derision rise).

Oh, and there are some tracks on Techno Animal's 2001 album Brotherhood of the Bomb that feature alternative rappers like El-P. For me the best of the bunch is "Piranha", feat. Toastie Taylor:

Kanye West - The College Dropout
Flobots - Fight with Tools
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Lupe Fiasco - The Cool
Plan B - Who needs actions when you've got words
Rhymefest - Blue Collar
Scroobious Pip - Distraction Pieces
Stanley Odd - Oddio (tough to choose which one of theirs to be fair)
Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP
Dizzee Rascal - Boy in da corner (grime technically, I suppose...)

Some of those wouldn't have got in if I could have multiple albums from same artists - Late Registration, Platypus, Food & Liquor, Time for Plan B, Reject, Angles, Slim Shady LP...all would've probably got in....

Great to see The College Dropout and The Late Registration mentioned. Incredible production on both albums, so soulful.

Is this hip hop? Probably not. But it's certainly rap---- maybe not all rap but a goodly percentage of it is... Whatever it is, I like it!
