Title: Re: This Car of Mine Post by: baseball95 on May 14, 2016, 10:39:37 PM I think Brian did it with David Marks on lead vocals during the Jeff Beck tour
Title: Re: This Car of Mine Post by: Cool Cool Water on May 15, 2016, 02:09:47 AM I saw David Marks perform it at a private lost Beach Boys event in London in 2008 with Jeffrey Foskett.

He performed "Our Car Club" for sure, with Jeff singing. Did he also do "This Car of Mine"? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=89Ysw6fyhlw Title: Re: This Car of Mine Post by: Lowbacca on May 15, 2016, 04:40:06 AM What a shame, would've been great during their '64 shows. Yeah, Dennis would have knocked it out of the park, "The Wanderer" style. :)Title: Re: This Car of Mine Post by: Cool Cool Water on May 15, 2016, 11:59:57 AM I saw David Marks perform it at a private lost Beach Boys event in London in 2008 with Jeffrey Foskett. Were The Ladykillers. ;) Title: Re: This Car of Mine Post by: mikeddonn on May 15, 2016, 12:56:29 PM I saw David Marks perform it at a private lost Beach Boys event in London in 2008 with Jeffrey Foskett. Cheers to your Dad for filming it. ;D Title: Re: This Car of Mine Post by: HeyJude on May 16, 2016, 07:12:33 AM They briefly added both "This Car of Mine" and "Custom Machine" during the 2013 "BAD" tour. It was "blink and you'll miss it" thing; I don't know if they made it into more than one setlist on that particular tour, maybe a few at the most. Same with Dave's turn on "Forever."
I believe reading some stories that Al pushed for "Custom Machine" during the C50 2012 tour but was shot down. Out of This Car of Mine and Custom Machine, I think TCOM would be more known out of the 2. Title: Re: This Car of Mine Post by: CenturyDeprived on May 16, 2016, 08:34:26 PM I love how Dennis sounds very, very much like Brian on the line "no clunker". The way the syllable "ker" is held out, total Brian-style, as though he inhabits Brian's auroa for that brief moment. That one line IMO is Denny's first great vocal moment.
