Title: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: ♩♬🐸 Billy C ♯♫♩🐇 on July 16, 2006, 07:55:00 PM Any info on this instrumental?

Or... the other way around. - hey, I've just woken up, cut me some slack. Whatever, there are reputedly lyrics, and I'm told they're pretty dumb. One version recorded 11/15/68. Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: ♩♬🐸 Billy C ♯♫♩🐇 on July 17, 2006, 04:07:08 AM Interesting...

Or... the other way around. - hey, I've just woken up, cut me some slack. Whatever, there are reputedly lyrics, and I'm told they're pretty dumb. One version recorded 11/15/68. Another version supposedly recorded circa'75. Lyrics by Kalanich ? Could be wrong there, I just know not to many people have ever heard them. Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: SloopJohnB on July 17, 2006, 05:10:05 AM Mona Kani sure sounds Denny-ish. I've heard a version with vocals, but this particular version was done by Sean MacCreavy... :)
Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: Old Rake on July 17, 2006, 06:24:07 AM It is Denny, with lyrics (uncut and unrecorded) by Steve Kalenich.

Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: Jason on July 17, 2006, 07:57:23 PM Man I remember the good old days when Mona Kanau first hit the collector's market in the worst possible mp3 rip. It sounded like utter garbage. Thank God for the source on Brother Rarities/Big Sur 1970 in perfect sound (gee, how did THAT one get out? ;)).
I wonder if Mona Kanau was a solo Dennis session or a Dennis track intended for the band. 11/15/68 puts it in the 20/20 period. Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: Dan Lega on July 25, 2006, 01:10:27 PM I asked Steve Kalinich what he could tell me about the lyrics to Mona Kani, and he said he remembered that there were a bunch of faux Hawaiian words in the song. I'm hoping there are more lyrics than that written down or sung on tape someplace, but the fake Hawaiian may be all that there ever was. Love and merci, Dan Lega Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: Lowbacca on February 13, 2014, 07:48:45 AM *bump*
Short question about the track in.. question here, so I thought I'd use this here old thread. On topic: The track is called "Mona Kani" on my copy of "Get The Boot Vol. 1" and it's called "Mona Kana" on MiC. Both are practically the same tracks. The thread title reads "Mona Kanoui". Are all these titles interchangable? If not, did different versions/recordings have different names? Are all of these Dennis solo tracks/recordings/projects? Thanks in advance for any information! :) Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: Jason on February 13, 2014, 12:20:51 PM They're all the same thing. The official track name is Mona Kana.

Thanks. :). . and it's presumably a Dennis solo project? Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: c-man on February 14, 2014, 03:47:11 AM They're all the same thing. A track produced by Dennis with help from Carl, intended for the "20/20" album but never finished with vocals. Mike Kowalski plays drums! Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: RangeRoverA1 on February 14, 2014, 04:42:08 AM Mona Kani is only half-good; instead of those off-the-cob strings they could've gone on developing suspicious atmosphere doing lots of variations on it. Three Blind Mice is a perfect closer in & of the song, it's almost as though it was intended to sit at the end of Mona Kani (at least, according to some YT video, maybe just a fan-made stuff).
Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: Andrew G. Doe on February 14, 2014, 05:01:51 AM "Three Blind Mice" was recorded by Brian in late 1965... "Mona Kana" was recorded by Dennis in late 1968. Join the dots. ;D

Sounds like Brian & Dennis's music could do a good match. Title: Re: Mona Kanoui (or whatever its called) Post by: pixletwin on February 14, 2014, 06:35:38 AM They're all the same thing.
