Title: Forever is about murder Post by: alf wiedersehen on April 20, 2016, 12:43:49 PM Seriously, what's the only thing that will last forever?
Death. Let's take a look at the lyrics: Quote If every word I said could make you laugh I'd talk forever On the surface, this seems like a thing sweet thing to say. He wants to bring her laughter for the rest of their natural lives. Yes, how very nice. BUT YOU HAVE TO DIG DEEPER PEOPLE. The span of her natural life won't be much longer if she spends the entirety of it laughing. You see, her constant, continual laughter would deprive her of oxygen, her abdominal muscles would freeze, and she would perish. It's happened before (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_from_laughter), and he wants to make it happen again. There would be absolutely no signs of foul play, and Dennis would walk away a free man. Quote I asked the sky just what we had It shone forever Does this sound like a stable person to you? He was talking to the sun. On top of that, he presumably stood and stared at it for a period of time his mind registered as "forever," just to make sure it wouldn't stop shining. Quote If the song I sing to you could fill your heart with joy I'd sing forever I hope you're now starting to be able to pick up on the true, dark meaning behind these statements. This one should be clear enough. He doesn't want to make her joyful. Instead, he literally wants to fill her heart with joy. He's going to keep singing until her heart is entirely packed with joy, preventing it from beating and effectively shutting down the circulation of her blood. Once again, Dennis would go free, as he couldn't be blamed for her heart failure. Quote I've been so happy loving you Does anyone else notice that one, ominous word? "Been." He used to be happy with you, but it's over now. Now he is going to kill you. Quote Let the love I have for you Live in your heart And beat forever Maybe it's just me, but someone else's heart seems like a strange place to keep your things. I suppose once he removes all the joy from her heart cavities, there will be ample space. That word "live" is an interesting one, though. It's almost as if Dennis wants to reanimate her corpse. He's going to let his love live inside her heart, where it will begin to take over and resume its beating? For what nefarious reasons Dennis has to do this, I do not know. Quote Baby just let me sing it my baby I wanna be singin' my baby The lyrics continue to mention singing--almost obsessively so. If we recall an earlier portion of the lyrics, singing is one of his plans to murder her. It seems he has chosen his method. Quote So I'm goin' away Mmm but not forever It ends here--with a threat. It may seem as though he is gone, but he will be coming back. Is this a warning to the woman in the song? Perhaps. Maybe, just maybe, it's a warning to the listener. It's a different interpretation, I'll give you that. Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: Mendota Heights on April 20, 2016, 01:16:22 PM Murder? Sounds more like he is into some girl who is not into him and now he has decided to leave her alone.
His words don't make her laugh and his songs don't fill her heart with joy. She is not responding to his love. Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: MarcellaHasDirtyFeet on April 20, 2016, 01:24:40 PM I'm suddenly feeling very creepy for playing this song during my wedding...

Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: bringahorseinhere? on April 21, 2016, 07:00:15 PM it actually means we are gonna go from 'fuller house' to 'empty house', as John turns into a phycopath murderer and kills Becky
and then during the upcoming seasons, all family members 'suspiciously' die and the final series episode ends with a new version of 'Forever' by John, featuring background vox by Mike & Bruce and Foskett on falsetto. Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: You Kane, You Commanded, You Conquered on April 22, 2016, 10:30:45 PM This thread is right up there with "FUM HIM THE MOURDOROUS BASTARD" for sheer what the fuckness. I can't say I'll ever hear this song the same way again... My first Manson wrote listen a very beutifull song sung by one Willium Axl Rose . A song called look at your game girl. Axl in fact became completley obsessed with manson. He wore a shirt very often with various masnon themed frazes, ie charlie dont surf! Fair enough, he was very fkd up. But, he did have a very eatherel sence of song. A song that only, in my mind, has no fear. He, and in every sence of the word had balls. His was a world of confusion, but his lyrics speak out to me. Bottom line though, FUM HIM THE MOURDOROUS BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Praise him and you are as bad as I am! Im in no way religious, infact I hate the whole god fad. But I still feel like Ive sined for praising MANSON. Cheers Barry PS http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=424310 Hot damn, you're right Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: RangeRoverA1 on April 22, 2016, 11:12:44 PM And I wonder what's so remotely cool or funny about that phrase. Once in a while smb. brings it up and I don't for the life of me get it. If you ask me, it reads like speech coming from dumb high school kid. Not to mention there's no word mourdorous. Can you explain it? Oh, and the rest of the post is booooorrrring.

If that's the reason why they think it's funny then literally ANYthing is funny. OK, what about "fum"...sorry, "FUM"?
Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: Emily on April 23, 2016, 08:54:14 AM It's rather hilarious to me; analyzing humor is hard to do, but I think it's to do with people having a Manson-related conversation and someone shows up and writes a post that is so much like what a stereotypical crazed fictional psycho-killer would write. The Captain's response was perfect.
I think that post and Bubbly Waves OP here are a couple of my favorite posts on this whole board. Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: JK on April 23, 2016, 09:55:15 AM Huh? If that's the reason why they think it's funny then literally ANYthing is funny. OK, what about "fum"...sorry, "FUM"? FUM is in all likelihood a primitive version of thump. Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: RangeRoverA1 on April 23, 2016, 11:53:19 AM That's even worse. In my old-fashioned view, joke isn't joke if it's filled with expletives.
Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: the captain on April 23, 2016, 11:59:40 AM Yes, I assume fum is meant to be f***. And mourdorous is just plain bad spelling.
(Also, my response was "um..." Hardly comedic genius on that one. I was hoping I'd said something good.) RRA1, while humor is definitely hard to explain--especially across languages and cultures--I think the reason many of us found that "fum him the mourdorous bastard" line (and post) so funny is that it was just so, so stupid. It's not inherently funny: there's no joke there. The poster wasn't being funny. It's that he rambled with that poorly written nonsense while thinking he was making some kind of worthwhile point. There is something funny about people aiming high with their intentions, confident with their posts, and instead leaving behind incoherent and ignorant drivel. That's funny. In fact, one could argue it's almost the essence or purpose of comedy: taking down the mighty. That's what most comedy is, whether it's bringing some world leader "down to size," pointing out flaws we all share to keep our egos in check, or something similar. (It's not particularly funny when a 5-year-old writes badly: a 5-year-old is supposed to write badly and is a sympathetic figure. It's funny when an adult trying to make a grand statement writes badly.) Title: Re: Forever is about murder Post by: RangeRoverA1 on April 23, 2016, 12:13:38 PM Thank you, that was good explanation. I didn't see that post from that angle. Makes sense now (though cussing is a big no for me).
