Title: spouses of influence Post by: Emily on April 03, 2016, 08:06:12 PM On the Brian autobiography thread, we veered into a discussion of influential spouses and attitudes toward them; and whether those attitudes differ depending on the gender/sex of the spouse.
I'm starting a list of girlfriends/boyfriends/husbands/wives/life partners that are known or popularly thought to have significant influence on careers of their partners. If you can add to the list, that will help. Then, we can consider their reputations, maybe spy on message boards or something, and compare. So women influencing their partners: Melinda Ledbetter/Wilson: Brian Wilson Yoko Ono: John Lennon Linda McCartney: Paul McCartney Gail Zappa: Frank Zappa Julie Kramer: John Fogerty (I was unaware of this, but it was mentioned in the other thread) Men influencing their partners: Mutt Lange: Shania Twain Oliver Lynn: Loretta Lynn ? : Alanis Morissette when she was young, I think Garry Keif: Barry Manilow Jason Trawick: Britney Spears Ike Turner: Tina Turner Andrew Stroud: Nina Simone Narvel Blackstock: Reba McEntire Rene Angelil: Celine Dion Tommy Mottola: Mariah Carey There must be many more famous examples of both sexes, right? To keep things easy, let's limit it to show biz. Let's not even get in to parents! Title: Re: spouses of influence Post by: KDS on April 04, 2016, 06:00:31 AM Wendy Dio - married to and managed Ronnie James Dio until his untimely death in 2010.
Sharon Osbourne - Ozzy Osbourne - Sharon was a very positive influence on Ozzy after he was fired from Black Sabbath in the late 70s, and he would've likely died and never had a solo career without Sharon. However, the later years, her reputation has been called into question, especially when Bill Ward was forced out of the recent Black Sabbath reunion. |
