Hadn't heard this. Title: Re: Crumple Car Post by: Malc on February 23, 2016, 11:43:42 AM Been circulating for a fair while now - originally appeared on the Big Wednesday soundtrack, tho not sure if that's where Al heard it first !!
Title: Re: Crumple Car Post by: Smilin Ed H on February 23, 2016, 11:53:42 AM I knew about the Big Wednesday thing, but I guess I'm out of touch these days. Would've sat nicely on his album.

Title: Re: Crumple Car Post by: The Shift on February 23, 2016, 01:42:14 PM Thinking it was part of a download EP not too long back,iTunes maybe… have it somewhere. Strikes me as similar in style to the recent TM song performance that was online, performed with son Matt. Nicely laid back…
Title: Re: Crumple Car Post by: “Big Daddy” on February 29, 2016, 01:36:59 PM Worth noting “Crumple Car” was recorded by a band featuring the Dragon brothers on the soundtrack to 1969’s The Innermost Limits of Pure Fun. Wonder if Al learned about it from them.

It just seemed to randomly materialize on YouTube awhile back. The person who posted it on YouTube claims it was recorded in "early 2000" but then also calls it an "early 90s" recording.
I haven't listened to that YouTube clip in awhile, but my recollection is that the sound quality was certainly okay for an unreleased track, but sounds like it probably came from a cassette dub or something. Not pristine CD quality. Al had mentioned the recording many years back, I believe in one of many ESQ interviews in the 2000s that teased his ongoing solo album recording process. Title: Re: Crumple Car Post by: Andrew G. Doe on February 29, 2016, 03:21:55 PM Had to be recorded before April 1993.
Title: Re: Crumple Car Post by: HeyJude on February 29, 2016, 03:22:46 PM Certainly sounds more like an early 90s recording. Makes sense.
