A giant among arrangers left us eleven days ago. So far there's not much notice of Jimmie's passing beyond the above article and some tweets and Facebook posts. But look up his Wikipedia article or his credits at discogs if you don't know how much his string and horn writing (for example his work on Pacific Ocean Blue) is woven into the musical fabric of our lives.
