Post by: The_Beach on January 03, 2016, 06:12:54 PM I was wondering how many Beach Boys/Brian Wilson songs have been offically released on Brian Wilson's offical web site that has never yet to be released on a CD or Itunes! Likewise with "Forever She'll Be My Surfer Girl" - extra verse and all. Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: SloopJohnB on January 04, 2016, 06:19:55 AM Brian's cover of Carl's Heaven. I don't think it has been released anywhere else, but I could be wrong.
Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: HeyJude on January 04, 2016, 06:50:53 AM Brian's cover of Carl's Heaven. I don't think it has been released anywhere else, but I could be wrong. "Heaven" was included on an "ESQ" exclusive CD. Can't remember if that was before or after it appeared on Brian's website. Either way, the ESQ CD is likely not easily or cheaply tracked down, and you can still get it on Brian's website. There are several Christmas-related tracks ("The Christmas Song", etc.), most of which can still be found grouped together on a "Christmas" page on Brian's site. That page also includes a couple non-Xmas-themed songs that must have been put up around the holidays, including Brian's take on "Heaven." I may be wrong. Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: thetojo on January 05, 2016, 03:56:13 PM I thought couple Christmas songs were released.... unless they were re-recorded,,,,, There was the "instrumental" and "vocal only" versions of On Christmas Day. They weren't released on CD. The regular version obviously was. Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: thetojo on January 05, 2016, 03:56:57 PM Brian's cover of Carl's Heaven. I don't think it has been released anywhere else, but I could be wrong. Was it on one of the ESQ discs? Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: Wirestone on January 05, 2016, 05:20:31 PM The Gershwin demos weren't by Brian. They were the files provided by the Gershwin estate to Brian of the songs that became "Nothing But Love" and TLIILY.
The complete list of website-only tunes. There were a few other Christmas items, but they appeared on WIRWFC. 2000 On Christmas Day (sessions) On Christmas Day (track) (Note -- there was no Christmas Day vocals only mix) 2004 White Christmas (with members of Styx on vocals) 2007 Midnight's Another Day (demo) Forever She'll Be My Surfer Girl (demo) The Christmas Song (Mel Torme cover) 2008 Heaven (Carl cover) 2011 Silent Night (Brian with his kids) Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: Wirestone on January 05, 2016, 05:23:18 PM The demo - and definitive - version of "MAD". Indeed. The real shock is that the "final" version -- which is largely the same BW vocal (and likely instrumental parts) -- could fall so short of the demo. Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: GoodVibrations33 on January 05, 2016, 05:44:43 PM 2000 On Christmas Day (sessions) On Christmas Day (track) (Note -- there was no Christmas Day vocals only mix) I think the "On Christmas Day (track)" included backing vocals too. I may be wrong. You are correct sir - "MAD" was released on a promo for a Sydney music event, but you couldn't buy it. It came as a freebie if you bought a regular CD. Post by: Alan Smith on January 06, 2016, 01:54:34 AM Brian's cover of Carl's Heaven. I don't think it has been released anywhere else, but I could be wrong. Yes, on a ESQ CD. Is this ESQ CD entitled "That Lucky Old Sun - a narrative by Brian Wilson. demo version and other rare tracks", per chance? Also, are the x-website tracks still kicking around anywhere online (other than YouToob)? I would imagine these tracks are not "boots" per se, as long as a body didn't charge for their distribution. Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: The_Beach on January 10, 2016, 09:27:15 AM I thought Midnight's Another Day (demo) and Forever She'll Be My Surfer Girl (demo) were both released on the AOL sessions? Or are those different demos then the ones on his website
Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: Andrew G. Doe on January 10, 2016, 10:23:48 AM Aside from "FSBMSG" & "MAD", none of the demos have been released.

"Heaven" was released (with the permission of Bri-Mel) on the bonus CD included with the Summer 2008 Dennis Wilson: ONLY WITH YOU issue. This is officail isnt it? are those all demos?https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029B4N38?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: Andrew G. Doe on January 10, 2016, 03:47:13 PM Um... pardon me for pointing out the obvious, but the tracklisting clearly states all titles are "(Live At The AOL Studios)". Therefore... not demos of any hue. Don't believe me, then listen to the samples.
Scott & Brian's original demos for TLOS have been on the collectors circuit pretty much since 2008. A deluxe release of TLOS featuring those demos and a few of the original versions (i.e. the proto-"California Role" "Wondering What You're Up To Now") would be much appreciated. He claimes they are demos of every LOS song on the album! Are they real??? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJWWxUD-CyvBBQA5aD2PnzA

I picked up 2 of these CDs without any payment - can't remember how. In any event that is an official CD release. The OP seems to have been concerned as to whether these were available officially. Hard to get sure - but an official release. So was the long and the short of all that that there has been no official release of the FYBMSG demo? Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: Andrew G. Doe on January 11, 2016, 10:55:20 PM More specifically, This is Our City In Summer, "released" January 2008 on Iceberg. Full track listing was:
1. Chicago - Sufjan Stevens (6:06) 2. Fake Empire - The National (3:27) 3. Bullets - Tuning (6:00) 4. Cosmia - Joanna Newsome (7:19) 5. Midnight's Another Day - Brian Wilson (4:19) 6. Wide Open Road - The Triffids (4:10) 7. From Little Things Big Things Grow - Kev Carmody & Paul Kelly (5:45) 8. Plasticities - Andrew Bird (4:29) 9. Cante E Dance - Pink Martini (4:28) Seems such a sampler was a regular release every year Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: thetojo on January 12, 2016, 02:28:02 PM Seems such a sampler was a regular release every year Thanks for reminding me of the track listing - just to be clear I meant I picked up 2 copies of the 2008 sampler. Title: Re: Offically released songs ONLY on Brian Wilson offical website! Post by: LeeDempsey on January 17, 2016, 10:50:41 AM That just means that the CDs are not commercially available for sale in stores. They are free with the purchase of the corresponding issue of ESQ. If you can add the issue to your cart from the website it's still available.
All of the ESQ issues that contained CDs are still available except for the April 2004 Dennis Wilson "One in a Million" issue which is sold out.
