Mostly because of the sequence you used in that. Just my opinion. This ones good too, I just...as Im sure youre all sick of hearing...really loathe the idea of an elements side personally. But its very competently done and Im sure people that are into that will love it. But its very competently done and Im sure people that are into that will love it. I know. This was really just an attempt at a concept album. I tried to embody The Elements more as a concept that overall sums America's environmental progress. Side one is pure Americana, and Side two is our growth of perception and knowledge (the childhood theme) about the environment and the progress we have made. It all ties into The Elements, and after really digging into the "Smog" rant, Brian had stated he wanted to make an album about our environmental progress, and air pollution, etc., and I believe this mix COULD have been what SMiLE would've sounded like before December 1966, when Brian Wilson wrote the infamous tracklisting. The December tracklisting was really all the things that we were going to hear in 1967 if the album got out, and in actual sense, we still are hearing that with this mix, except I'm in Great Shape is now part of Heroes and Villains, and The Elements exsits as four tracks. Just my hunch. |
