Title: Re: Vocal Pop Concept Albums Post by: Aegir on July 11, 2006, 11:01:15 AM Genuine Imitation Life Gazette is pretty boring in some places, but I absolutely love Mrs. Stately's Garden. I'd say it's one of my favorite Four Seasons songs.

The "Eddie" movie is a fairly ridiculous conglomeration of every rock cliche and half-apochryphal music legend from the 50's through the 70's. Eddie, who resembles Jim Morrison, writes songs like Bruce Springsteen until he's inspired by Dylan's real life fav Rimbaud to create the radical "SMiLE"-like "Season In Hell" with its "Fire Suite" that has the rest of his band scratching their heads! Typical of the Onion to include a fictional album in their top ten.

Title: Re: Vocal Pop Concept Albums Post by: Susan on July 30, 2006, 10:04:25 AM Cool list! I've been told that the Osmonds' The Plan is simply dreadful...any thoughts?
Title: Re: Vocal Pop Concept Albums Post by: Andrew G. Doe on July 31, 2006, 04:21:38 AM Yes. it would have been just perfect... iffn they hadn't stuck "Ticket To Ride" (from the Up, Up And Away sessions) smack in the middle. Reason ? Financial. Title: Re: Vocal Pop Concept Albums Post by: L Ransford on July 31, 2006, 08:34:59 AM Ticket To Ride seems to fit the theme anyway.
Title: Re: Vocal Pop Concept Albums Post by: Andrew G. Doe on August 01, 2006, 04:30:00 AM Ticket To Ride seems to fit the theme anyway. ... but musically it sticks out like a sore thumb. Title: Re: Vocal Pop Concept Albums Post by: Old Rake on August 01, 2006, 07:17:13 AM Cool list! I've been told that the Osmonds' The Plan is simply dreadful...any thoughts? Yes. My thought is those people are wrong and most likely suffer from Osmond Predjudice, a common disease. "The Plan" is unusual to be sure but it nowhere near dreadful -- much like most of their records, it has quite a few really interesting songs on it. |
