Brian and Al in grade 4. Dennis in Grade 2. Carl in Kindergarten [which was only 1/2 days back then...so he might have been at home with his Mom] and David...at home period 'cause he was only 3. The only way any of them would have been Beach Boys would have been when their folks took 'em to the beach. Well maybe Mike, Brian and Denny could have gone on their bikes? Not sure how far away from the sea-side they lived. Al, of course, came from Ohio so what beach? In January? No beach.

I think they were supposed to have released either Smile or the Heroes And Villains single on this day, but didn't (obviously), I haven't access to a timeline at the moment but I would assume they may have been recording something for the still in progress Smile album. ...OK, I'm kidding — actually they were towards the end of recording Surf's Up (the album)... but my first statement is probably still true. Especially in Brian and Carl's case, as nothing is listed in terms of sessions or gigs for that day. If I remember rightly, Brian was, er, 'going out a lot in the evening with Danny Hutton' at this time (and we all know what that meant)... and Feel Flows was recorded the next day. Back in the day, I seem to recall Jack Rieley, when he was still alive, reminiscing about all the bug powder dust he and Carl got through while writing the lyrics for that one. Carl was in London working on songs for BB85 in the studio over the previous five days, but the band didn't do anything on the 26th. They appeared on The Tonight Show a couple days later.
