Just saw it confirmed that drummer Fast Eddie Hoh passed away this past Saturday Nov. 7. One of my favorite drummers of the 60's mostly from his amazing tracks with the Monkees on the Pisces Aquarius album. After disappearing for much of the last 45 years to the point some thought he had died years ago, he reappeared via a friend who had seen fans talking about Eddie on internet music forums and he came on to update everyone about where Eddie was...and that led to a Facebook fan page where Eddie read every message and question posted there and delivered to him, and answered via his friend when he could. Terrific drummer. He's also great on just about every other record on which he appears.
Sometime in the future somebody with the reporting skills of, say, Mike Stax should see about putting together a Hoh discography more comprehensive than Wikipedia's - there seem to be quite a number of records he played on for which he wasn't credited - and a biographical profile that explains, as much as possible at this late date, just what went wrong with him in the Bay Area in the fall of '69 that precluded his return to LA and forced him back home. RIP. |
