Title: RIP Drummer Fast Eddie Hoh Post by: guitarfool2002 on November 08, 2015, 11:18:58 PM (http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n295/guitarfool2002/eddiehoh1_zps3fc2qqns.jpg)
Just saw it confirmed that drummer Fast Eddie Hoh passed away this past Saturday Nov. 7. One of my favorite drummers of the 60's mostly from his amazing tracks with the Monkees on the Pisces Aquarius album. After disappearing for much of the last 45 years to the point some thought he had died years ago, he reappeared via a friend who had seen fans talking about Eddie on internet music forums and he came on to update everyone about where Eddie was...and that led to a Facebook fan page where Eddie read every message and question posted there and delivered to him, and answered via his friend when he could. Terrific drummer. My favorite Eddie Hoh drum tracks in no particular order: Pleasant Valley Sunday Words Goin Down The Door Into Summer Daily Nightly Season Of The Witch (Donovan and Super Session versions) And this film outtake from Monterey Pop where Eddie gets a chance to cut loose on a jam while they fix some vocal microphone issues, and where the camera catches a priceless expression at 46 seconds after Eddie nails an awesome fill... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5IHHXOXOMk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5IHHXOXOMk) Details: http://www.knollcrestfuneralhome.com/memsol.cgi?user_id=1695972 (http://www.knollcrestfuneralhome.com/memsol.cgi?user_id=1695972) RIP Eddie. Title: Re: RIP Drummer Fast Eddie Hoh Post by: JK on November 09, 2015, 09:48:44 AM Just about everyone's heard him but hardly anyone knows his name.
Looking through Eddie's discography I see he played on a couple of tracks from the brilliant Farewell Aldebaran. R.I.P., sir. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNjr3C8y7xs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eITbBPmIO30 Title: Re: RIP Drummer Fast Eddie Hoh Post by: rn57 on November 12, 2015, 11:18:55 AM Eddie's drumming is a major reason why Pisces Aquarius Capricorn & Jones Ltd is my fave album by Dolenz, Tork, Nesmith and the other Capricorn. He's also great on just about every other record on which he appears.
Sometime in the future somebody with the reporting skills of, say, Mike Stax should see about putting together a Hoh discography more comprehensive than Wikipedia's - there seem to be quite a number of records he played on for which he wasn't credited - and a biographical profile that explains, as much as possible at this late date, just what went wrong with him in the Bay Area in the fall of '69 that precluded his return to LA and forced him back home.
