Title: This Isn't Love Post by: NickandthePassions on September 09, 2015, 07:16:40 AM Does anyone know where I can find the full version of "This Isn't Love," lyrics and all? I remember watching it on a Brian Wilson special, and I haven't been able to find it since. I think it's a forgotten great.

Title: Re: This Isn't Love Post by: KDS on September 09, 2015, 11:03:44 AM The soundtrack album has the Alan Cummings version of the song.
I think the only version of This Isn't Love with Brian Wilson is the live version from the Live at the Roxy 2CD set. Title: Re: This Isn't Love Post by: Rocky Raccoon on September 09, 2015, 03:19:17 PM I think the only version of This Isn't Love with Brian Wilson is the live version from the Live at the Roxy 2CD set. The only vocal version with Brian. Brian previously recorded a solo piano instrumental for a various artists compilation appropriately titled Songs Without Words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT9s6iLL6tA Title: Re: This Isn't Love Post by: Ron on September 09, 2015, 09:20:10 PM I always thought it was a good song. I dont' know if he wrote the lyrics, but it has that quirky Brian thing and is very beautiful.

Title: Re: This Isn't Love Post by: wantsomecorn on September 11, 2015, 03:14:46 PM Lyrics by Tony Asher. Written about Lorren Daro's girlfriend, as with all of his songs. Title: Re: This Isn't Love Post by: NickandthePassions on September 12, 2015, 09:58:14 PM Yikes. Live at the Roxy is pretty pricey, I'll have to wait until I can no longer resist hearing the full version.

Title: Re: This Isn't Love Post by: Wirestone on September 13, 2015, 09:50:26 AM It's not a studio demo. It's Brian fooling around on the piano with the eight-note phrase that begins the song. He ad libs some vague vocals. He returned to that melodic phrase in the mid-90s with Tony to actually write the full song.

The only other one to be released is "Everything I Need" which Brian recorded first with Carnie and Wendy and then as a duet with Jeff Foskett. Hell, I wish they worked together on more albums for the Beach Boys after Pet Sounds. They clearly were great collaborators for each other. You can hear Brian playing around with the melody again on the Hamburger/Cocaine Session bootleg (apparently from 1981), so he must've had it in his head for a while.Title: Re: This Isn't Love Post by: HeyJude on September 14, 2015, 02:27:45 PM The 1983 studio demo floating around on YouTube is purty cool too.
