most are like some lyrics in typeface or a crappy surfer scene with "warmth of the sun" in shitty cursive or something. can't get the brother logo because that would be appropriating native american culture. any good ideas for a tattoo?

I think 'Native Americans' is the modern day, non-offensive term.

To turn this frown upside down, one could look at it another way: that the Brother logo pays homage and respect to Native Americans, and such a tattoo would be an honorable thing, and certainly much cooler/classier than a great many of the stupid things I have seen inked on people. 

No, and I never suggested such. Any appropriation of a logo like that is in the eye of the beholder, and I rock a Brother Records shirt myself...

That said, I just think that flat out saying a statement like "f*** what [fill in any given ethnic group here] thinks" is about as crass as it gets, IMHO.  Not cool.

Bugger that. There's plenty of ideas if you get creative. What about a sleeve of Frank Holmes' SMiLE drawings? Or find some way to crop the Wild Honey cover so it looks nice--a bunch of flowers as opposed to an awkward square of them I mean.

On a more serious note, having an image of a native american tattooed on you isn't cultural appropriation. It's not like wearing a Village-people headpiece or anything. I'd call it a respectful tribute, just like Brother's use of the image in the first place.

From the first page of the Pet Sounds Sessions booklet, I think this would make a pretty awesome tattoo.
