Great stuff,

Some great lines "Just sneak across the border, and they'll take care of you"  :lol

Hey, we certainly have the same problem in the U.K. (just a little bit)

Illegal immigrants in the US get tax funded benefits while veterans lose their homes.

The massive influx of illegal immigrants makes it that much more difficult for the ones who came here legally and try to do things the right way.

$17 trillion in debt and counting... I fear for the future of this country.

Illegals don't come here for hand outs, they come here because Americans offer them jobs.  The GOP is very ignorant.  It's their government-hating corporations that have caused the problem.  Illegals won't go back until we stop giving them jobs.

Interesting to note:

Bruce Johnston co-wrote the lyrics to this song along with the angry middle-aged white guy in the video. He dedicates it to Benghazi and Bean Bag.

I inspect tenant housing for various public and private concerns in the rich sanctuary state of Maryland, fattened as always by DC money.   I'd estimate about half the immigrant adults I run into appear to have jobs and the rest are content with the gravy.

My wife of 42 years is Hispanic.  Love her, our two children and all my Hispanic family.

So finding that video hilarious makes me a racist?

It at least makes your sense of humor very poor.

But in all seriousness, I don't know enough about you to accuse you of anything of the sort.  But in general, a person having emotional connections to a person of color does not make them incapable of prejudicial behavior so if that were your defense to being called a racist, it would be a pretty weak one.  I do think the video itself is very racist as is the man who made it.

Well, finally something that made me laugh on this thread!

I was trying to stay out of it, since I found the video to be bigoted and obnoxious, too...so much for my sense of humor.  I guess it's specialized.

I marvel at the logic of the "gut reaction crowd" here.  Someone puts together a little satire illustrating a problem the US is facing, and all they can come up with is "That guy's fat!"  That's all you got out of that?

Tax avoiding multi-billionaires cost the UK and the US trillions every year and yet all certain people (idiots) can get worked up about is poor foreign people desperately trying to start a new life: more often than not, escaping countries due to violent wars that we f--king started. 'Immigrants' contribute far, far, far more to the UK/US economy in taxes than they claim in benefits - this is fact. People's prejudice against these people is just racism, pure and simple, however they might otherwise try to dress it up...

The millennial generation needs to remove the stick from its collective asshole and learn how to take a joke. Is it racism to want people who actually contribute to society to be allowed to immigrate? One would think you guys in John Bull's Tyranny would have more of a problem with this considering the fifth columns that have taken over some parts of your once-great country.

You sound like the filth who defended the Rotherham authorities when they decided not to go after the assholes who were raping children because "it's raaaaaaaaaaacist." Give me a break.

COMMENT: I posted a Beach Boy parody song and you guys took it to the sand box.  Today's out-of-control evil and overpopulation has spawned this and other songs. Remember another Beach Boy melody the subject of the day's political topics -- "Bomb. Bomb, Bomb Iran" -- Senator McCain's favorite. As to the song itself, I thought it was well sung, and the phrasing was excellent. Who ever performed or re-performed this Beach Boy standard should get high marks just for their singing. You may agree or disagree with the lyric, but the writing of them is cleaver and keeps you interested to see where it's going. Imitation is a form of flattery. There are hundreds of songs that could have been used for this statement, but sort of a back-handed compliment that they chose a Beach Boy melody.  ~swd

DIsney Boy 1985 - you might want to take a look at the actual scores of US visa categories of immigrants, either immigrant or non-immigrant legal categories. And they range from diplomatic to humanitarian with many sub categories in between.  Virtually anyone with a college degree with a job talent that is needed in the U.S. is legally let in.  There are thousands who have paid millions in applications fees to stand in line to get into the U.S. Last time I checked the application fee was about $500 just for the application, never mind the lawyers fees.  Why should they wait while others are cheating the system?

The U.S. has an interest in checking the criminal backgrounds and health status (vaccinations) of those who enter our shores.  And many thousands have been allowed a temporary residency status, such as Haiti, after the earthquake. Many other nations where FGM occurs, permit women to make a case for entry and the U.S. is very compassionate both in that instance as well as for religious and political persecution that is a "well-founded" fear criteria.

How many labor and delivery "hotels" have been set up to assure birthright citizenship?  You can be sure that other countries don't reciprocate with that perk.  And the babies have no technical right to remain in the U.S. They are supposed to return to the parent's homeland.  And at age 21, can return and apply under "family reunification" petitions.  It is a process that those who have immigrated to the U.S. have had to follow, including mine, waiting to be admitted and being quarantined at Ellis Island.  Fair is fair. And has nothing to do whatever with political party posturing for election time.

I believe in putting the well being of one's own countrymen before those of outsiders (and FYI that includes not letting Big Corporations dodge what they rightfully owe in tax). That doesn't make me a Conservative, it makes me a realist. As for Obama being a Muslim, I neither know nor care. Would you settle for I think Obama is about as much use as tits on a nun?

See, this is exactly the problem with these ultra political discussions.  You start out making a valid statement (the 'tax-avoiding billionaires' part), but then it goes sour half way into your first sentence where you trail off into a whole other subject (the one we happen to be talking about) inserting namecalling (idiots).  And then you make it sound like people sneaking over borders (rather than going through the legal process, like my ancestors did) should get some kind of sympathy, because.....oh wait a minute....are you saying that the US is at war with Mexico?????  What????

Then you state that 'Immigrants contribute far (x3) more to the UK/US economy in taxes than they claim in benefits' and punctuate it with 'this is fact'.  Where did you get this fact?  If illegals are undocumented, how do you know they are paying taxes?  Just because you say something is a fact doesn't make it a fact.  And that, brother, IS A FACT!

Then you go into the typical namecalling tirade:  prejudice, racism, and....oh, where's 'hate'?  You forgot that one.  Folks love to throw those words around cause they get people riled up.  That's how we're programmed by the media.  Not wanting to see people rewarded for illegal activities doesn't make you a hater.

COMMENT:  SmileySmile is a place to get away from political commentary -- at least for me.  I just posted the parody song because it seemed appropriate to today's news while at the same time being an old Beach Boy standard.  I'm not about to be taken in to a political discussion here, but I do wish to point you to an article by the Heritage Foundation that says each American citizen pays about $330 per year in additional taxes to support the present immigration situation in this country. It is this fact that spawned the parody song lyrics, so I guess without becoming too involved, I'll supply these two links:

Let us not forget that the Heritage Foundation is a very conservative think tank( if that isn't a contradiction in terms)

funny when these political threads do pop up, which is rarely, it's never very surprising to see which members are staunch right wingers. is it coincidence that they're the same folks who always rise to defend Mike Love?

Ha. I was gonna point this out as well.

Also, I have to say it's disappointing that it wasn't just some scrub who posted this video on the site, but instead one of The Beach Boys' former employees. I know Bruce "born on third but thinkin' I hit a triple" Johnston apparently thought this video was hilarious, but I wonder what BRI would think of this.

Is it really though? Does that mean if I post some stupid parody of a Beatles song on YouTube about some subject, that will make it a part of Beatles history? Or would it just make me an unoriginal jerk-off who ripped off a Beatles song to make a "political" point.

I will say, at first I did appreciate your presence on this board Mr. Desper. However, this "song" had dick to really do with the Beach Boys, and it was obvious that bringing up this topic anywhere that is filled with Americans was gonna get people riled up.

It seems like you're a Republican* and that's fine. You're up there in age and you probably think everything is changing and that it's not fair and that Trump and his promises are gonna "make America yuge again." And that's fine.  But I don't wanna hear about it when I'm on this board to read about The Beach Boys. If you wanna post this sorta crap in the Sandbox section of the board go for it. But not here.

*I no longer say "conservative" because most so-called conservatives aren't conservative. They choose to be when it benefits their cause, like Kim Davis. Or Paul Ryan who became a fiscal hawk during the Obama presidency, after having no problem voting for throwing money everywhere during the Bush years.

Referring to the truth as bullshit really puts you in a bind doesn't it Mike's Beard? I mean, not only are you a major Mike Love apologist but you're a conservative as well. Ouch! Why don't you go for the trifecta ?How about, Obama's a Muslim ?

I believe in putting the well being of one's own countrymen before those of outsiders (and FYI that includes not letting Big Corporations dodge what they rightfully owe in tax). That doesn't make me a Conservative, it makes me a realist. As for Obama being a Muslim, I neither know nor care. Would you settle for I think Obama is about as much use as tits on a nun?

Tell me Mr. Beard, do you not take President Obama at his word that he's a Christian? He goes to church and has spoken about his Christian faith quite a bit.

While we are at it, do you think Donald Trump is a Christian? Note that he says he's never asked God for forgiveness yet claims his favorite book is the Bible. Imagine if President Obama said something like that.

The only time I would care about a politician's religious beliefs is if it effects their actions on the job.

The millennial generation needs to remove the stick from its collective asshole and learn how to take a joke. I'm sick to bloody death of hearing about how EVERYTHING triggers these cultural degenerates. You're offended? Well, so fucking what? You choose to be offended. Live with it. You're not owed anything. If you think you are you have a lot to learn about life.

I could generalize about how an OBVIOUS lack of education...and want of at least venturing off of one's own front porch might lend itself to the kind of universal IGNORANCE which would have seen a majority of uneducated sheep gathering to vote George 'Dubya' Bush back into office for a 2nd term...thus both shocking the entire thinking WORLD and putting it entirely at risk of ruin...but that would be a sweeping and mindless generalization condemning only those who are [simply put] just plain dumb enough to think that Barack Obama is a Muslim imported from Africa.

In fact it'd just be a joke intended ONLY for nonsensical right-wingers who've taken the time to remove said stick from THEIR assholes.  Perhaps we'd all be better off in every way imaginable if, instead, they extracted their heads.

I agree with you; I'd add that the fact that people voted twice for both Dubya AND Obama speaks volumes about a very obvious lack of education. "Obama is a Kenyan Muslim" holds as much water as the Freemason conspiracy theories - zero.

The main issue for me is that these parodies are often right leaning, thus providing no middle ground. Real artists are usually more liberal, and thus creating their own original music   :smokin

A lot of entertainers (ie. actors, musicians, etc) can afford to be liberal.  When they're overtaxed, its just a drop in the bucket for them.

But, when I live in a liberal run city (Baltimore), and I see over $6 million of my tax dollars being used to pay off the family of a career criminal who happened to die when he was resisting his 20th arrest, that tends to have me voting for the right.

That being said, I think the two party system in the US is broken beyond repair.

Few things piss me off more than millionaire liberals - many of whom blown a fortune on coke in the 1970s/80s - preaching to the common man on how their country should be run and how their taxes should be spent.

You're confusing your terminology here. Liberalism in the United States is the right.

I don't think so.  Liberals / Democrats = left wing and Conservatives / Republicans = right wing.

I think I'm somewhere in the middle, but many of my beliefs tend to go to the right.

No, that's false. Democrats are equated with the left because the left in the United States has been politically disenfranchised. The Democratic Party as a centre-right political faction is as far to the left is one can legitimately go in the United States and are therefore called the left - but they are not genuinely left-wing. I've gone into detail about this before on this board. I am refraining from entering into political conversations here anymore though for reasons I'd prefer not to give. But have a look at a previous debate on the subject:

http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,12495.msg255905.html#msg255905

And you can find me talking about the political oppression of the Left in the bottom paragraph of this post:

THREE Mods and this thread ISN'T IN THE SANDBOX WHERE IT BELONGS

Mike Love is evil. Mike Love probably voted for Bush both times. There, now it's BB relevant again.

Has Mike sued for song writing credit on this one yet?

He'll have to do a joint thing with Chuck Berry on this one.
