I marvel at the logic of the "gut reaction crowd" here.  Someone puts together a little satire illustrating a problem the US is facing, and all they can come up with is "That guy's fat!"  That's all you got out of that?

And they range from diplomatic to humanitarian with many sub categories in between.  Virtually anyone with a college degree with a job talent that is needed in the U.S. is legally let in.  There are thousands who have paid millions in applications fees to stand in line to get into the U.S. Last time I checked the application fee was about $500 just for the application, never mind the lawyers fees.  Why should they wait while others are cheating the system?

COMMENT: I posted a Beach Boy parody song and you guys took it to the sand box.  Today's out-of-control evil and overpopulation has spawned this and other songs. Remember another Beach Boy melody the subject of the day's political topics -- "Bomb. Bomb, Bomb Iran" -- Senator McCain's favorite. As to the song itself, I thought it was well sung, and the phrasing was excellent. Who ever performed or re-performed this Beach Boy standard should get high marks just for their singing. You may agree or disagree with the lyric, but the writing of them is cleaver and keeps you interested to see where it's going. Imitation is a form of flattery. There are hundreds of songs that could have been used for this statement, but sort of a back-handed compliment that they chose a Beach Boy melody.  ~swd

See, this is exactly the problem with these ultra political discussions.  You start out making a valid statement (the 'tax-avoiding billionaires' part), but then it goes sour half way into your first sentence where you trail off into a whole other subject (the one we happen to be talking about) inserting namecalling (idiots).  And then you make it sound like people sneaking over borders (rather than going through the legal process, like my ancestors did) should get some kind of sympathy, because.....oh wait a minute....are you saying that the US is at war with Mexico?????  What????

I believe in putting the well being of one's own countrymen before those of outsiders (and FYI that includes not letting Big Corporations dodge what they rightfully owe in tax). That doesn't make me a Conservative, it makes me a realist. As for Obama being a Muslim, I neither know nor care. Would you settle for I think Obama is about as much use as tits on a nun?

I could generalize about how an OBVIOUS lack of education...and want of at least venturing off of one's own front porch might lend itself to the kind of universal IGNORANCE which would have seen a majority of uneducated sheep gathering to vote George 'Dubya' Bush back into office for a 2nd term...thus both shocking the entire thinking WORLD and putting it entirely at risk of ruin...but that would be a sweeping and mindless generalization condemning only those who are [simply put] just plain dumb enough to think that Barack Obama is a Muslim imported from Africa.
