Title: M&B Tour DVD Post by: NateRuvin on August 13, 2015, 11:10:48 AM Am I the only one that would LOVE to see a documentary/concert movie about the M&B touring of the last 15-16 (ish) years?
I'd love to see how they've selected band members, how Mike makes the set lists, how they keep up with the crazy touring schedule! I think it would be very entertaining and nice to have. There's enough quality concert footage online, with some nice interviews, a movie like this could be put together in no time. Title: Re: M&B Tour DVD Post by: KDS on August 13, 2015, 11:35:04 AM That might be interesting, but I'm not sure if they can, legally, release anything under The Beach Boys banner.
Quite frankly, I wouldn't want to see any official DVD release of the post Carl years until they finally release a full C50 show on DVD. I know that there's a ton of red tape and money, etc etc. But if they're not going to pony up the dough to release a better C50 DVD, then I doubt they'll do a M&B one. Unless some director like Sam Dunn or somebody directed it and covered the cost. Title: Re: M&B Tour DVD Post by: Cool Cool Water on August 13, 2015, 11:57:23 AM I would be interested purely for their insight via the tours over the years, M&B's backing band and possible studio footage/memories.
Title: Re: M&B Tour DVD Post by: Jay on August 15, 2015, 01:23:08 AM I'd like to see a dvd of Mike and Bruce's Beach Boys in their current form. A live dvd could actually be pretty great, if it included live versions of All I Wanna Do, 'Till I Die, Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring, All This Is That, Wild Honey(with John Cowsill singing lead), etc.

Mike's band is very the best it's ever been post-Carl (with the exception of C50 of course) Title: Re: M&B Tour DVD Post by: Douchepool on August 15, 2015, 05:35:17 AM There must be some kind of professional footage being taken because several fans since 2004 or so have noted the presence of filming equipment at several shows. Add to that the fact that several soundboard recordings leaked out in the last decade or so and it seems like there's been some kind of effort to document the tours.

Any kind of release would be a disaster. And rightly so. Title: Re: M&B Tour DVD Post by: Douchepool on August 15, 2015, 08:29:41 AM Not necessarily.

That's what you get when you put a tacky scumbag at the helm of the BB legend. Giving myKe luHv the license was the death knell for the legacy they should have had. If you called a fellow member a "tacky scumbag", there would probably be intervention from a moderator. If you called an Honored Guest a "tacky scumbag" (or even something less offensive like a "cheerleader"), you'd probably be banned or an apology would be requested If you called a moderator a "tacky scumbag", based on recent events, you'd be banned. If you called Brian Wilson a "tacky scumbag" or even attempted a "Why I Hate Brian Wilson" thread, it/you would be shut down in a hurry. But, when you call Mike Love a "tacky scumbag" or other inappropriate names - and there's a list of them floating around right now - it is acceptable. Functionally speaking, a DVD of Mike's show would be highly unlikely for two key reasons: He can't use the "Beach Boys" name on it anywhere, and any concert video gets hugely expensive as far as paying for the sync rights to songs. It's the same reason the BB50 Blu-ray/DVD only has 21 songs, etc. Plus, I'm guessing Mike wouldn't want to put out a live video or CD of his band where any mention of "The Beach Boys" is stripped away, because it would kind of undercut the perceived "legitimacy" of his show. |
