Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: joshferrell on August 01, 2015, 08:42:18 AM He actually dances JUST LIKE Mike,,,,, :o
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: Post by: drbeachboy on August 01, 2015, 08:45:53 AM That was really good and funny. Jimmy even had Mike's dance moves down perfectly. Everyone was playing the correct instruments and I think the guy playing Dennis was drumming left handed. Cool too that they did it in black and white. Very cool! :)
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: pixletwin on August 01, 2015, 08:47:56 AM Loved watching this. Jimmy's lovester moves were spot on.
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Cyncie on August 01, 2015, 08:48:35 AM Fun, fun, fun at the hamburger stand….
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Amy B. on August 01, 2015, 10:05:32 AM Off topic, but last time Kevin Bacon was on the Tonight Show, he parodied Footloose. :-D

Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: doinnothin on August 01, 2015, 10:25:42 AM Who else thinks Brian would prefer this version?
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: sea of tunes on August 01, 2015, 10:50:00 AM That was fun..and funny. I think Kevin Bacon attended the L&M premiere in Los Angeles. I suspect his a BW fan and I'm pretty sure Fallon is too.
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: bgas on August 01, 2015, 10:53:41 AM And we also ordered Fries with our burgers at the hamburger stand now!!!!!
It ain't deep but it sure is funny Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Wirestone on August 01, 2015, 11:43:34 AM These were clearly Brian's first-draft lyrics, before Mike made them "relatable."
Now that I think about it, they could well be Brian's first-draft lyrics for most of his songs, up to today ... Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Emdeeh on August 01, 2015, 11:45:36 AM So, how many degrees of separation is Brian from Kevin Bacon? :lol
Many thanks for the link -- I love Fallon's parodies and this was a great one! Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Wirestone on August 01, 2015, 12:02:19 PM So, how many degrees of separation is Brian from Kevin Bacon? :lol Many thanks for the link -- I love Fallon's parodies and this was a great one! As a musician, I believe two -- Jon Bon Jovi, the co-author of "Summer's Gone" is a guest on the Bacon Brothers' first album. As for acting, I believe three -- Brian appeared on the "The New Leave it to Beaver," which featured Barbara Billingsley, who according to Legacy.com, appeared "in 1987's Back to The Beach ... with David Bowe, who was in A Few Good Men (1992) with Kevin Bacon." Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Wirestone on August 01, 2015, 12:02:45 PM Cheerleaders! And by that you mean go-go dancers. Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Robbie Mac on August 01, 2015, 12:28:07 PM Cheerleaders! And by that you mean go-go dancers. And go-go dancers on Shindig and The TAMI Show were a far cry from Mike's Beach Boys Cheerleaders(!) Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Ebb and Flow on August 01, 2015, 12:55:50 PM You can tell from this and their appearance in 2012 that Fallon is a huge BB fan. I love how they captured that old Black and White video look with HD cameras.

I never saw that, that's pretty deep. Almost like a video Ontor would create or something. :) Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Summertime Blooz on August 02, 2015, 10:25:04 PM Fun fun fun perhaps but not funny funny funny sorry. Dumb works sometimes but -- oh well I appreciate the effort! +1... the best thing about this is the brunette in the back. Huzzah! Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: Kurosawa on August 02, 2015, 10:47:57 PM Kevin Bacon is even "playing" the bass with his thumb like Brian does...nice...he makes a pretty good young Brian, actually, especially considering he's like 50-something I guess.
Fallon is a good dude. Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: obscurereference on August 03, 2015, 04:08:53 AM Only slightly dumber than the actual lyrics!
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: HeyJude on August 03, 2015, 06:51:58 AM Here is Mike's response: https://youtu.be/d4UDsfoZlfI Good lord, thank God the BB’s didn’t travel with a video screen in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Otherwise, there would have been nightly detours to screen clips from “Full House” episodes. “See, we’re relevant with the kids!” That said, and I’m not a huge Fallon fan, his “Mike” impression is pretty funny in terms of the dance moves. For more “accuracy”, I would have told Bacon not to have the bass strapped on so low; that’s a common mistake modern re-enactments of 60’s scenes make, to have the guitarists and bass players holding their guitars like they’re a 90’s grunge band. But it’s not too often, well, *ever*, to see a BB-inspired comedy bit, so this was pretty fun. Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: Post by: 37!ws on August 03, 2015, 08:06:30 AM Couldn't help but notice that the guy playing Carl looks a lot like the guy who played Brian in Summer Dreams.
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: chaki on August 03, 2015, 10:24:11 AM that's AD Miles (who can be seen in the new Wet Hot American Summer Netflix series!)
Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: SurfJohnB on August 03, 2015, 04:49:26 PM Who else thinks Brian would prefer this version? Doesn't beg for a teleprompter-- could just write "Fun x3" and "hamburger stand" on one's hand. Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: Post by: Aum Bop Diddit on August 03, 2015, 08:07:39 PM On the subject of Jimmy being a BB/BW fan, everyone remember this from this past March? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKtE1s-sdfM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKtE1s-sdfM) AGD's favorite song of all time, just kidding! This, on the other hand, is funny. Title: Re: First Drafts of Rock: \ Post by: guitarfool2002 on August 03, 2015, 08:41:05 PM Check out how much these two TV personalities look alike. I was watching the Food Network Star show last night, and this host was one of the judges. I forgot how much he and Fallon could pass for brothers at least. I'm far from the first to point it out, but this is hilarious. Witness Jimmy Fallon of NBC and Jeff "The Sandwich King" Mauro of the Food Network:

IMO, Kevin Nealon was 10X funnier on SNL's Weekend Update than both Fallon and Seth Meyers. Yet, Fallon and Meyers were given the keys to NBC Tonight Show and Late Night. Maybe if Kevin had better timing. |
