Title: Was "When Girls Get Together" an attempt at feminism? Post by: CenturyDeprived on July 24, 2015, 05:25:36 PM Did that song come about in part as a way to dispel the notion that the band was sexist, or sang too much about women as sex objects?
Especially at the time, with the band remaking their image, I wonder if this was a concerted effort to make the band seem more grown-up and, and specifically feminist in some fashion. I suppose WGGT and Smart Girls must both be the most feminist type songs the band ever recorded. Even though, somehow, Hey Little Tomboy got recorded in between ;) Title: Re: Was \ Post by: cant wait on July 24, 2015, 06:08:07 PM good pick, good question CD.
an odd little song. i do not believe that it is about feminist notions, rather it appears to me to be a strange waltz about the circle of life. they pulled it from the vaults for KTSA; it was written and recorded about 10 yrs earlier. - i like it Title: Re: Was \ Post by: pixletwin on July 24, 2015, 06:10:38 PM good pick, good question CD. an odd little song. i do not believe that it is about feminist notions, rather it appears to me to be a strange waltz about the circle of life. they pulled it from the vaults for KTSA; it was written and recorded about 10 yrs earlier. - i like it What they said. "BIG BRAINS ARE AWESOME, DUDE!" :lol

Title: Re: Was \ Post by: Bicyclerider on July 25, 2015, 06:02:31 AM Considering Good Time was written in the same time period and it is decidedly ANTI feminist if not downright sexist, I would say no.
