Title: "Vege-tables" letters--has this ever been discussed? Post by: onkster on July 08, 2015, 08:37:13 AM We all know the line in the song, "I know that you'll feel better if you send us in your letter and tell us the name of your, your favorite vege-table".
Did anyone do this? Was there ever a big fat file folder at Capitol with fan letters telling about their favorite veggies? Anyone tabulate the results? Anyone here actually write in themselves? Did "carrots" win? Title: Re: \ Post by: Mr. Verlander on July 08, 2015, 08:41:03 AM No

He said his favorite is carrots. I wonder if he felt better after doing that. Title: Re: \ Post by: JasonK on July 10, 2015, 05:03:41 PM I played that song for someone who had never heard it, had no knowledge of the band. Her reaction was along the lines of, so they had a whole bunch of people writing the letters? etc. She thought the song was funny, and the idea of people writing in was funny.

Did "carrots" win? I do wonder if Brian ever thought people would send some letters in. When he wrote the song, after all, the band was still popular enough to probably be receiving a ton of fan letters of all sorts, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them ventured into weird/creepy territory with what the more hardcore fans wrote to the band about, subject-wise. By the time Smiley Smile came out, the band had gotten quite a bit less popular in a short period of time. But I'm sure that over the years, some fan(s) sent in a vegetable letter or two.
