Title: Re: Love's new album? Post by: Bubba Ho-Tep on June 27, 2006, 09:51:13 AM Cool Head Warm Heart from Hallmark CD was a winner. If the rest of his CD is up to that standard, well then Mr. Love deserves some credit for making a pretty good album.
Title: Re: Love's new album? Post by: Matt Howlett on June 27, 2006, 10:10:23 AM I'm hoping Adrain Baker took the role as vocal arranger for the album. He seems to be able to mimic Brian's style. Especially on "Cool Head, Warm Heart", I like the acapella intro.
Title: Re: Love's new album? Post by: Rocker on June 27, 2006, 10:26:23 AM It's a nice album. 10,000 years ago was written with Dennis back in the days. Dennis also recorded a instrumental track for this

awfully retro sounding lineup of tracks... Happy Birthday is from 1967 Everyone’s In Love With You is the "15 big ones" track redone... 10,000 Years, Glow Crescent Glow, Daybreak, Brian’s Back are all from the early mid-70's and Brian's Back has already been released once as well.... just can't see how this CD would sound very cohesive.... would also be interested to see if Dennis gets the co-writer credit for 10,000 years.... but I do admit the "Cool Head, Warm Heart" does sound pretty good... But Brian's been doing the same thing for years, too. Title: Re: Love's new album? Post by: Bicyclerider on June 27, 2006, 03:19:46 PM While I kinda liked Cool Head, Warm Heart, I'm always surprized at how lame Mike's lyrics became after 1970-71. For someone who made such great lyrical contributions to Brian's songs in the past, what could have happenned to him? Did he get too groovy/into meditation and philosophically decided to make all his songs "message songs" about ecology and TM? Did he forget his own first rule of songwriting - boy girl, boy girl, boy girl? Did he, like Brian, lose some of his mind to drugs during that brief period he was experimenting with them?

Although I don't mind the lyrics, I completely agree with you. The first thing that hit me when listening to the album was how uncommercial it was. |
