Kenny was so cool (and sounded a lot better) in his "hippie" days. He had long brown hair rose colored sunglases and even a pierced ear. The group all had talent.

His New Christy's pop-folk stuff. His singles with his do wop group the Scholars. Best of all was his Four Freshman-Ray Charles influenced Jazz vocal group called the Bobby Doyle Trio. In A Most unusual way is the LP. I sent Brian an orignal vinyl copy because I know he has said he likes Kenny and I know he loves the Freshman. Kenny's pre 1976 stuff is far more creative (except for maybe Gideon) then what he did after. I mean he sings way up high on some of this stuff. Still I think the First Edition LPS are the home of his best work. Not sure about the rest of the wrecking crew. But yeah, I too LOVE that song. Unfortunately that's the only First Edition song I know. Thanks mainly to The Big Lebowski.

They continued to to hard rock at times but also did a lot of folk-pop-country-even gospel. If you like the style of music Jerry Reed, Tom T Hall, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee, were cutting in the late 60s then they are a group worth hearing.
