Title: England Loves Al!
Post by: SurferDownUnder on May 21, 2015, 01:28:23 AM
Sloop John B = #3 UK (Al's idea)
Cotton Fields = #5 UK (Al)
Breakaway = #6 UK (Al's voice prominent)
California Saga = #37 UK (Mostly Al, during a lull in commercial appeal)
Lady Lynda = #6 UK (Al's song)
Then I Kissed Her = #4 UK (Al's vocal)

Whatever song Al wanted to do England seemed to have his back! Very interesting indeed  8)

In the late 60s/early 70s england music consumers were into good rock while america turned a deaf ear to it, hence the BBs selling alot there at that time and not here.

Breakaway would certainly be a good choice for Brian and Al to do in concert this year in the U.K. As would Friends (a decent number 25 hit) which they obviously worked on together.

I saw Brian and Al sing "Break Away" together in 2007. It would indeed be cool to see them try that one again. "Lady Lynda" is the only one from that list they've never done.
