Does anyone know of any songs by other artists/bands that any of The Beales sang backup on or played instruments? all I can think of is Paul contributing backing vocals on Donovan's Mellow Yellow.

also pick up Doris Troy's album on Apple ...both Ringo and George play on it and Billy Preston and George play on her version of Get Back . it's a pretty good album.

George played on lots of the early Billy Preston albums. Lots of the Apple Records bands have had a Beatle or two playing backup.

And let's not forget Paul's vegetable percussion on the Smiley Smile version Vegetables.

I don't think Paul actually sang on Mellow Yellow, though, I thought that was just a rumor.

The best Lennon/Elton thing is the live set from Madison Square Garden.  I bought a 45 of that a few years ago... when they drop out all the instruments at the end of "Lucy in the Sky" it's down to I think the drummer and just John and his guitar with that grainy voice of his "LUUUUCCCCYYYY innn thaaaa skiiiiiiiiiiaaas with diaaaaamonds!!! Lucccccccy in thaaaa skiiiieees with diaaaaaamonds!!!!" coolest guest appearance *ever*  Plus, to check the guitar out, he plays the "I feel fine" riff. 

Ringo plays drums on the BB live version of "Back in The USSR", 1984 or 1985.

Paul produced and played on Urban Spaceman by the Bonzo Dog band under the name Apollo C Vermouth I think

Don't forget Paul's production of "Those Were The Days" by Mary Hopkins.  I think he  produced "Good By My Love" for her also.

John & Paul sang backing vocals on the Rolling Stones single "We Love You" (?), 1967.

Paul played on Steve Miller's single "My Darkest Hour"

Paul, Ringo, George ad Eric Clapton played on Jackie Lomax's "Sour Milk Sea"

The best book to check for things like this is "The Beatles Encylopedia" by Bill Harry, absolutely essential for any Beatles fan...

also a MUST own for Macca fans is Mike McGear ( pauls brother) solo album recorded in 1974 it is basically a WINGS album.
with Paul , linda and Denny all over it. and contains a GREAT macca song "the man who found god on the moon"
the cd may  be out of print ?..it was released on cd by Ryko.

Apparantly this has involvement from John, Paul and George.

John and Paul produced it supposedly and I think they played on it. I think I recall that George is on tambourine or something. Hang on I'll get a book!

That's the same book that claimed that the Beach Boys recorded an ill-fated unreleased album called Smiley Smile and that a lesser album instead came out called Smile...just one of dozens of basic inaccuracies I found in it -- but that was years ago; hopefully it was corrected long ago!

Oh...something else.....there was a pirate compilation put together a few years ago by members of a Beatles bootleg discussion group, and it's a multi-CD set called Spot The Loony. It consists, IINM, entirely of George Harrison guest appearances on other artists' recordings. (And if you see it for sale, do not buy it -- it was never meant for sale; it was meant to be traded or given away.)

Badfinger's "Day After Day" was produced by George, who also played slide guitar (along with Pete Ham, I believe.)

I think George also played on a Hall & Oates track...?

Lennon plays on the David Bowie track "Fame" (which he co-wrote) and also Bowie's version of "Across The Universe"

What you should really check out is Paul's contribution of backing vocals on Godley and Creme's Freeze Frame album, containing the hit Englishman in New York. The song is called ehm i thought it was Get Well Soon! It's amazing!

Ringo plays guitar on Paul Simon's "Rhythm of the Saints".  According to my notes, at least.

George Harrison and Paul Simon doing "Homeward Bound" is a fine few moments in time...

Don't forget: they also did "Here Comes The Sun"! 

George Harrison played guitar on Cheech & Chong's "Basketball Jones"
