New to the board but been a lurker for a while, of everything I've read I have never heard the Bruce pistol whipping story? Is it a board in-joke or does it have a back story? Excuse my naivety  :P

It's my understanding that it involved an altercation between Bruce and Phil Spector

Can that be expanded? I know Bruce didn't get on with Jack Rieley but I can't find anything about Spector altercations

From what I understand, Bruce actually saved Ronald Reagan, governor of California at the time, from an intruder at the governor's mansion by pistol whipping an unnamed suspect some time in 1973. At least that's how he explained it me, after calling President Obama an asshole in mid 2012 for raising his taxes.

Now mind you, it's been a few years, my memory might be off.

I heard Bruce was going to be with Reagan on that fateful day in 1980 when he got shot but he was getting some custom made shorts so I guess your story checks out...

Really tho, its one of those stories mentioned on the board that I have absolutely no clue about  :lol

And there's the fact that, according to Wikipedia, Bruce Johnston was "the leader of one of the most notorious gangs in the history of Pennsylvania, USA. The gang started in the 1960s and was rounded up in 1978 after his son, Bruce Jr, testified against him." Bruce Sr. was sentenced to 6 consecutive life sentences and died in prison.

But I don't know anything about it.

Before the beating began, Bruce sneered,

Bruce served a 7 year sentence from '72-'79 for pistol whipping a bell hop. Allegedly, the bell hop addressed him as "Mr. Johnson" and that set Bruce off into a fury of anger.

Wow, I'll bet that guy had some tears in the morning.

Years of clapping have made Bruce's hands harder than the butt of any firearm. Bruce clapping you to death is a far worse fate.
