Title: New interview with Don Was, partly about NPP Post by: rn57 on April 22, 2015, 12:22:22 PM http://radio.com/2015/04/22/don-was-interview-rolling-stones-sticky-fingers-reissue-brian-wilson-frank-sinatra-bob-dylan/
It leads off with the interviewer evidently trying to draw Don out about what it was like to work with Brian as a hired hand rather than producing - but Don finesses it pretty well, with some interesting info about what Brian told him to do. Also, a strange story about Don and Dylan trying to get Sinatra to do an album of Hank Williams (presumably Sr) covers. That would've been interesting to say the least! Hank's songs were of course covered by artists of all different styles of music. One of the first (if not THE first) pop hit version of one of Hank's songs was Tony Bennett's "Cold, cold heart" (see below), so I can definitely see Sinatra doing some Hank. In fact it just seems logical to me that one of the greatest singers would sing the compositions of one of the greatest songwriters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBbV2Npz9qI |
